     Lieut. Commander Joseph Eliot Austin was born at Brooklyn, New York, Kings County, New York, on 23 December 1885.2,1 He was the son of John Cajetan Austin and Elizabeth Carruthers.1 Lieut. Commander Joseph Eliot Austin married on 4 October 1909, at age 23, Mamie Huntress Wadman, age 22, daughter of John O'Reilly Webster Wadman and Mayme Huntress.1 Lieut. Commander Joseph Eliot Austin died at Pennsylvania in October 1964 at age 78.2
      Lieut. Commander Joseph Eliot Austin was assistant traffic manager (Interisland Steam Navigation Co.). Lieut. Commander Joseph Eliot Austin was an officer in the U.S.N.. He received a midshipman degree from Annapolis, in 1908. He resided at Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hiawaii, before 1951.2 He and Mamie Huntress Wadman resided at Fairfield, Adams County, Pennsylvania, on 24 October 1961.3
