He graduated from Newton, N.H., schools and the Moody Bible Institute. He moved here from Newton in 1935 and became pastor of the Agamenticus Christian Church. In 1947 he established the Friendly Tabernacle Church at Cape Neddick here.
The Rev. Mr. Stevens was known locally as the ''Mountain Preacher'' and used his nickname as his call name on the CB radio, which he enjoyed using from his residence.
He was well-known for visiting the sick in the local hospitals.
He enjoyed gardening and was the gardener at Barbara Dean's Restaurant on the Marginal Way in Ogunquit for many years.4 Rev. Charles Stanley Stevens was a pastor at Friendly Christian Tabernacle Church, Cape Neddick, York County, Maine, in 1935.5 He and Eunice Gertrude Huntress resided at Mountain Road, Cape Neddick, York County, Maine, circa 12 March 1997.3,6,4
