Robert Huntress was born at Berwick, York Co, Maine.1 He was baptized at First Church, Berwick, York Co, Maine, on 16 December 1771.2 He married at First Church, South Berwick, York Co, Maine,, on 29 October 1795, at age 23, Hannah Wadleigh, daughter of John Wadleigh and Elizabeth (?), and sister of his brother Ichabod's wife Mary, and sister of his sister Abigail's husband John, ceremony performed by Rev. John Thompson.3,4,5 Robert Huntress died 6 after 1820.7
Robert Huntress was a farmer at Hiram, Oxford Co, Maine.8 He resided at Blackberry Hill Road, Berwick, York Co, Maine.9 He resided at Berwick, York Co, Maine. "Robert Huntress, whose wife was Hannah Wadleigh, came from Berwick to Shapleigh, thence to Hiram, early in the present century, and settled on a farm on the northeast side of Ossipee river, near the Warren bridge. He d. suddenly many years ago; his widow d. about 1856.".10 He resided at Shapleigh, York Co, Maine, in 1804. Robert "Huntriss" was listed as the head of a family on the 1810 Census at Shapleigh, York Co, Maine. In his family were two males less than 10 years of age (John, Darling and Samuel), two between 10 and 16 (Temple and William), one between 26 and 45 (Robert), two females less than 10 years of age (Elizabeth and Frances), and one between 26 and 45 (Hannah). Evidently one of the boys were not enumerated.11 By his father's will he had 30 acres at York, ME 8 March 1815. Robert "Huntrass" was listed as the head of a family on the 1820 Census at Hiram, Oxford Co, Maine. In his family were two males under 10 years of age (Robert and unk), one between 10 and 16 (Samuel), one between 16 and 18 (Darling), one between 16 and 26 (Temple, William or John), one female under 10 (Hannah), one between 16 and 26 (Frances, 15), and one between over 45 (Hannah, 44).12
