"I found the baptism records for the children of Samuel4 Moses and his wife Anna in the Records of the 3rd (Independent English) Church, Portsmouth, NH 1758-1831 at the Atheneum in Portsmouth, NH. The baptisms for eight of their children are recorded, including: Samuel5 Moses on 25 Apr 1762 and Thomas Moses on 6 Feb 1774. The baptism date for this Thomas ties nicely with the birth date of Deacon Thomas Moses. He would have been a little over two months old. No other Thomas Moses of Portsmouth fit this baptism date. This source was apparently unknown by Zebina Moses and others."

Drew's 9th Company in Joseph Badger, Esq.'s (10th) Regiment, also listed in Col. Nathan Hale's Regiment, for the State of New Hampshire, and drew a state bounty of 20/0/0, and was paid 0/16/8 for travel to Charleston No. 4.6,7 He moved in 1783 and resided at Brownfield, Oxford Co, Maine.8 He moved in 1787 and resided at Falmouth, Cumberland Co, Maine.8 The same year Pearson Huntress with Daraxa his wife in her right as grandchild of John Thomes late of Falmouth, Gent., deceased, he conveyed lands at Falmouth. Other grandchildren who joined in the deed were Submit, wife of Enoch Knight, cordwainer, Hannah Thomes, spinster, Martha wife of John Emmons, currier, Lucy, wife of Samuel Poor, cordwainer, and Sarah Thomes, spinster, the last three of Portland, the others of Falmouth. This was on the south side of the main road from Portland to Stroudwater and included marsh.9 In 1789 Pearson Huntress acquired lands on Falmouth Neck, partly in Falmouth and partly in Portland including salt marsh.10 Pearson Huntress was listed as the head of a family on the 1790 Census at Falmouth, Cumberland Co, Maine. In his family were one male over 16 years of age (Pearson), two under (James and John), and three females (Elizabeth, Daraxa and Nancy).11 He was listed in the Massachusetts and Maine 1798 Direct Tax (8 acres, $174) on 1 October 1798 at Falmouth, Cumberland Co, Maine.12 Pearson Huntress was listed as the head of a family on the 1800 Census at Falmouth, Cumberland Co, Maine. In his family were two males under 10 (Edmund and John, 14), one between 10 and 16 (James), one between 26 and 45 (Pearson), one female under 10 (Nancy), one between 16 and 26 (Nancy, 15), and one between 26 and 45 (Daraxa).13 In 1802 Pearson Huntress of Falmouth and Daraxa his wife divided with Hannah Thomes, spinster, land they owned jointly at Falmouth including the house where they lived.14 Administration on his estate was granted to Daniel Gilbert.15 In 1820 Hannah Thomes conveyed her part including her interest in the "Old mansion house" to Edmund6 Huntress. The present Huntress Street in Portland, north of the railroad station and running nearly parallel to the tracks, indicates the location of the farm of Pearson Huntress.

The Falmouth (early Portland) records of births, marriages and deaths 1775-86 were destroyed by fire in 1849. A copy of the earlier records is to be found in the office of the City Clerk at Portland.16 Information about their family is from a sampler made about 1820 by Maria G.6 (Huntress) Goodwin in possession, 1920, of Julia Dayton8 Ferris, of Denver, Denver Co, Colorado.17

Christopher Huntress
b. circa 1756, d. after 1775
Pop-up Pedigree

Christopher Huntress was born circa 1756. He was the son of Ensign Christopher Huntress and Elizabeth Pearson. Christopher Huntress died after 1775.
On 30 October 1775 A Christopher Huntress was a soldier at Sewall's Point in the Revolution. A "Private, Capt. Joseph Pettengill's co., Col. L. Baldwin's regt; return for clothing dated Sewall's Point , 30 October 1775; also, same co. and regt; list of men returned as having received advance pay, dated Camp at New York, April 23, 1776"
"Huntres, Christopher.Private, Capt. Joseph Pettingill's co., Col. Baldwin's (26th) regt; pay abstract for Feb., 1776, dated New York."
"Huntris, Christopher.Private, Capt. John Baker, Jr.'s (10th) co., Lieut. Col. Loammi Baldwin's (38th) regt; pay abstract for Aug., 1775; also, Capt. Joseph Pettengill's co., Col. Baldwin's (26th) regt; pay abstract for March, 1776, dated New York"
"Huntriss, Christopher, Conway.Capt. John Baker, Jr.'s co., Col. Samuel Gerrish's regt; receipt for advance pay, signed by said Huntriss and others, dated Brookline, June 22, 1775; also, list of men belonging to Capt. J. Baker, Jr.'s co., who had been sworn and mustered, as returned by Capt. Baker, dated Brookline, July 11, 1775; also, Private, Capt. John Baker's co., Col. Samuel Gerrish's regt; muster roll dated Aug. 1, 1775; enlisted May 1, 1775; service, 3 mos. 2 days; also, Capt. Joseph Pettengill's (10th) co., Lieut. Col. Loammi Baldwin's (late Col. Gerrish's) 38th regt; company return dated Sewall's Point, Sept. 27, 1775; also, order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money dated Sewall's Point, Nov. 19, 1775."
"Huntriss, Christopher, Fryeburg.Private, Capt. Josiah Davis's co., Col. Joseph Prime's (York Co.) regt; joined June 11, 1780; discharged Dec. 8, 1780; service, 6 mos; enlistment, 8 months; company raised for defence of eastern Massachusetts. Roll sworn to at Arundel."
This suggests that Christopher4 Huntress may have had a son of that name who did not survive to marry, for the father was an oldish man to be a soldier in the Revolution. There is a gap in the births of his children between James, born in 1754, and Elizabeth, born about 1765. A son born in 1756 would have been of suitable age to be a soldier in 1776.1,2,3 He was a soldier in the Revolution in the 2nd New Hampshire Regiment commanded by Col. Geo. Reid for the years 1777, 1778 & 1779 in the 5th Company as a private paid 60. Between 1777 and 1779.
