Of the Presbyterian faith, Lois had been a member of the Presbyterian Church of Elkton, Va., where she and Matt had a summer home. Following his death, she moved into the Cooper Lane Apartments in Cooperstown on Mother's Day 1995 and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown.

Among her interests were traveling, oil painting and arranging flowers. She was an avid reader, and when moving to Cooperstown from Florida she brought her books with her as she could not bear to leave "her friends."¹ Matt and Lois were active in the Palm Beach Power Squadron, and from 1986-1987, she served as president of their auxiliary (The Dolphins). They devoted many happy hours to boating.¹ She resided at Cooperstown, Otsego Co, New York, on 9 May 2004.¹
