My 4th gr-grandmother was Catherine SEE, who was the daughter of Paul SEE and Catherine SEE. Catherine was married to Abraham BOICE, also of Westchester County, and the family moved to several other NY locations (accompanied by her widowed mother), before moving to Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, NY in 1809. While in Poughkeepsie, they fell upon hard times, and in 1810, the overseers of the poor of Poughkeepsie ordered them to return to Coeymans, NY, which was the last place they had paid taxes. In 1812, the family was reexamined by the overseers of the poor, and because they hadn't left Poughkeepsie the first time they were ordered to do so, it was ordered that they be removed by a constable and returned to Coeymans. The original book of the Poughkeepsie, NY overseers of the poor can be seen at the Local History Room of the Adriance Memorial Library at Poughkeepsie, NY, in the miscellaneous papers. I have retained the original spelling and punctuation, but have capitalized the surnames to make them easier to read. I am descended from Rhoda BOICE, the daughter of Abraham BOICE and Catherine SEE, Rhoda stayed in Poukeepsie, married Jonathan Hall BEARDSLEY, and remained there the rest of her life; but I have not found a further record of the rest of her family in Coeymans, or anywhere else. In the final order for removal, no mention was made of Catherine SEE (the mother), so she might have left after the first order. I've always thought that she might have returned to her daughter Rachel SEE ANDERSON in Westchester County, but have found no evidence of that.
