                            Last Will and Testament of Charles Manning

In the name of God Almighty, I, Charles Manning of the town of Clinton, county of Dutchess and State of New York being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory *-do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following - First I order all my just debts *to be * and I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Phylla? Manning her bed and bedding with all the household furniture that she * possessed* at the time I married her.  I also give and bequeath my wearing apparel of any description to my sons - viz - Charles - Caleb, John, Samuel and Joseph and Levi to be equally divided between them.  And as to the remainder of my estate both real and or periferal* I will and order to be sold* at the discretion of my Executors - and one third of the amount of my real estate I order to be set* out at interest and the interest to be paid to my wife Phylla Manning yearly and every year as long as Phylla remains my widow.  I give and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter Mary ____?- late the wife of John Hale, the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars to be equally divided between them when they arrive to lawful age.  I also give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah, the wife of Gilbert Conklin, the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars.  I also give and bequeath to my daughter Abigail?/Alyace?, the wife of James Wilbur? the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars.  I also give and bequeath to my daughter Philis?, the wife of Robert Taylor, the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars.  I also give and bequeath to my daughters Lucy and Ruth Ann the sum of five hundred dollars each, which money I will and order to trust* out at interest until they shall marry or arrive to lawful age at which time it shall be paid to them instantly* and in case of the death of either of my sons or daughter without their leaving any lawful heirs I order their gains* to be divided amongst my remaining sons and daughters.  And lastly the total undivided* remainder of my estate I give and bequeath to my sons, viz Charles Manning, Caleb Manning, John Manning, Samuel Manning, Levi Manning and Joseph Manning to be equally divided among them.  I also order that my younger sons, viz, Samuel, Levi and Joseph to trust* out to trades* of their choice and their gains* to put out at interest until they shall finally arrive to lawful age - at which time their fair* gains* together with the interest thereon shall be given* to them respectively.  And I hereby appoint John M. Thurston, John Hale and Jacob I.? Manning the sole Executors of this my last will and testament hereby ending* all former wills by me made.  In writing whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten.  CHARLES MANNING

Signed, Sealed, Published and Declared by the said Charles Manning to be his last will and testament in the presence of us, who in the performance* of the testator, and of each other have hereunto subscribed our names - James Callow?, James I. Stoutenburgh?, Samuel M? Thurston.

Dutchess Co. - Be it remembered  that on the twenty third day of April 1810 personally appeared before me, Thos. I.? Oakley, Surrogate of the said county, James I.? Stoutenburgh? of the Town of Clinton who on his oath declared he did see Charles Manning sign and seal the annexed* written instrument purporting* to be the will of the late* Charles Manning bearing date the thirteenth day of April 1810.

Dutchess Co. Recorded the following will of Charles Manning, the Certificate of proof thereof and the letters testamentary thereon, the 23rd day of April 1810.
