Bull-Pen Procedures - Swimmers will be asked to come to the bullpen by event number. There will be a first and second call. Swimmers please be in the bullpen by the second call. At the time of the second call, if there are any special instructions from an official, they will be given at this time. (Fly over start procedure)

In the Bull-Pen swimmers are lined up by their seed time using rows of chairs. Each row of 6 chairs represents a heat. The rows at the front are  the first heats. If you miss your heat and lane assignment at this time, you still have time to be in the race. There will be an open spot. Just ask the bull-pen crew what heat and lane you are in and you can join the rest of the swimmers at this time. When you get to the starting blocks, tell the lane timer your name. They can then check if you are in the proper heat and lane.

If your heat is next, promptly step up on the blocks or step into the water at the time of the referees single whistle command. If you don't, you may miss your race. Prior to each race there are 4 whistles. This is a prompt for the swimmers that are in the next race to be ready and for the announcer to call for the next event and heat.

Here are a couple of pictures of the bull-pen crew and empty bull-pen.
