Review - Mercury Brewing's Z Street Mocha Java Stout
"This full bodied beer begins with a traditional oatmeal stout recipe. We then add a rich blend of coffee in the kettle and finish it with a generous helping of cocoa." -- Mercury Brewing
We had a ton of comments on this beer as we drank it with our guest reviewers. Mouth-watering initial taste, dark chocolate taste, great dessert beer, smells like a coffee filter after you've brewed a pot. Long story short, (almost) all of us loved it. The Mocha Java Stout pours a dark black color with a full, light brown frothy head. Good residue on the glass that lasts and lasts. Body clarity was non-existent, as this is a muddy looking stout. Again, aroma's are of heavy malt, with both dark chocolate and strong coffee scents. Initial flavor is a light sweet that carries through the finish, with a full, dry mouthfeel. According to BB, the mouth-watering continues all the way through the finish. This was not Sean's favorite beer.
