About Ian
Blending gritty guitars, passionate lyrics, and heavy faith &
emotion, Ian's songs evoke a sense of realism in a world drowned
in drama. Refusing to follow the current trends, Ian's chooses to
write songs of strength, determination, and self-reliance.
In addition to playing countless coffee shop performances in the Ann
Arbor area over the last decade, Ian has also performed and recorded
with the post-grunge bands Asphyxia and Scrub, and more recently
with alternative rockers outta the belly. His solo work has received
lots of press (mostly good!) and been featured in rock
magazines like Italy's "Slam!" and "Heaven's Metal" in the U.S.
Ian's new album, Apathetic Sunday, hearkens back to a time when music
was more than just a product or mp3 download. From the heavy, grungry
sound of opening track "Apathy" to the meloncholy, acoustic "Scales,"
Apathetic Sunday is filled with emotion and determination.
In 2004, Ian married Purple Kitty guitarist Sherry Dornbush (now
Hafner), and has occasionally filled in on drums for Purple
Kitty.
Ian has a
deeply rooted faith in Jesus Christ, and his faith is reflected in
his lyrics and music. Ian won't shove the Gospel down anyone's
throat, but he will share God's message of love with anyone who
wants to hear it.
