"I'm letting go of my Jem. It use to be a black floral
(I believe it's an '88 ) but the previous owner decided to strip
all the finish off. I took it and covered it with pictures of
Jenny McCarthy making it a "Jen" (I
know, it's retarded but what's a guy to do). I also covered them
with a very thin coat of clear lacquer. BTW, I did not do a great
job of applying the pictures. Very, very amature, at best.
Note: The pictures will be removed prior to shipping unless
you can prove you are over 18 due to the content of the pictures!
When the previous owner took the finish off, I think he over
sanded some parts such as the head stock, it's a little thinner
than normal (it's just under 1/2 of an inch thick)
The holes where the tone and volume pots go are also a little
chipped out but not extremely bad.
The hardware is pretty cosmetically worn but still works great.
The neck is really straight and plays very well. One of the best
necks I've played. The frets have a lot of life left in them.
I think it was re-fretted with jumbo frets prior to my buying
it about 4 years ago.
The pick guard is broken on the part above the fret board. It
broke at the top screw hole for the neck pickup.(I can take a
picture to show it if needed) It's kind of a pain in the butt
to get a pickup mounting screw to stay in there but once the
pick guard is screwed down it stays. Also, It dose not have any
pickups or tone/volume pots in it.
Hopefully this guitar will make a great project for someone.
I do have pictures available(which will be censored unless, again,
you can prove you at least 18 years old) and I can take more
detailed ones(or at least try to) if needed.
Asking $300 + shipping, OBO."
Also worthy of note is that Buck's Jem is scalloped from
the 19th fret upwards, two more frets than usual. Truly a freaky
Jem that's seen some use and abuse! -- Graeme
