"This guitar started life as an Ibanez RG-7620 (basswood body, maple neck, 24 fret rosewood fretboard.) The previous owner had added a pickguard and a few other customizations, so when I got the guitar it had a bunch of holes drilled in the top. I sanded the finish down to the primer and filled in the screw holes. At that time, I decided to go a step farther and make a unique custom guitar. The neck pickup cavity has been filled in, as have the volume
and 5-way switch holes. The regular-style Ibanez output
jack was filled in The sole pickup, in the bridge position, is a DiMarzio New-7, as came stock on the RG-7620. The volume control has been relocated to the tone control position both to get it out of the way and to avoid cluttering the graphic. The bridge is the standard Ibanez Lo-Pro Edge tremolo as came stock on this guitar. All hardware (tuners, bridge, volume knob, strap locks) is black. The back of the neck has been sanded free of the clearcoat so that your hand doesn't stick to the neck when you get sweaty -- it's smooth as silk and stays that way thru hours of playing. The tip-top of the headstock, where it usually says, "RG Series" was painted over by the previous owner. The chrome Ibanez logo and silver check-mark are intact. The Nightmare Before Christmas graphic is hand-painted in artist acrylic paints. It is textured to resemble an oil painting. The black and white spiral on the back of the guitar was inspired by countless images found throughout Tim Burton's creations. It, too, is textured to appear as if it is an oil painting on canvas. These photos were taken while the guitar was being painted. It is now assembled, but I don't have access to a decent camera." |
