"Up for auction is a 1991 Ibanez
RG550 which has some of the JEM models features and parts added
to it. This guitar started out as your plain old stock RG550,
but was converted to the sweet looking guitar you see in the
pics below. The body was completely stripped of the factory paint
leaving the body al natural. Control cavities remain flat black.
Next feature added to the body was the JEM monkey grip. The body
retains the stock pickguard but not the stock humbuckers. The
bridge pickup is an original JEM/Dimarzio pickup from one of
my old JEMs. The neck is a Dimarzio Paf 100. Both humbuckers
have a lite fade, but still are better than some I've seen. The
original RG knobs were replaced by original NOS JEM yellow volume
and tone controls and green 5 way switch cap. These are NOT the
mustard or mint green colored knobs places that places like Allparts,
Dimarzio, etc..(yes even Dimarzios yellow knobs they sell now
are not the same brightness as the originals they did for the
JEMs). Features an original EDGE tremolo(sorry no whammy bar).
All hardware(tuners, locking nut, etc.) is black. The neck is
still the factory maple/maple fretboard RG 24 fret neck but has
had the last four frets scalloped(al JEM). Neckplate has
some typical paint wear on the upper left edge of the neckplate.
Tip of the headstock has a couple small dings nothing major.
Overall the guitar is in perfect mechanical shape and very good
cosmetically also. Sorry no hardshell case, but a new gigbag
will be included. Guitar will be double boxed to protect it during
shipping. Bid early, add this killer guitar to your arsenal.
This is probably the closest thing to a real JEM, but at nearly
half the cost of what the original or new JEMs are bringing on
ebay now. Winning bidder to pay exact shipping cost(around $20.00).
