The Liberal Arts: Their History and Philosophy

Otto Bird, professor emeritus at the University of Notre Dame, was founder of the university's General Program of Liberal Education. He studied at Michigan, Chicago and Toronto and personifies what is meant by a liberally educated man. He has edited the Encyclopedia Britannica yearbook for many years. He has edited a volume in The Collected Writings of Jacques Maritain and written several other books.
