Membership in the IFDG
Three Major Points about the IFDG:
First, we are not a certification organization. Because our members come from differing backgrounds it would be impossible to find one standard by which to certify. The Guild understands that the "One Rule" can lead to stagnation, and that a base membership of varied approaches will lead to creative collaboration. It is our goal to build and foster an environment of acceptance.
Second, the IFDG has no hierarchy. We have no power structure. The Guild is a round table. We maintain a politic free organization.
Third, membership costs nothing, and is monetarily ($$$) free of charge. However we do require five things of potential members before joining.

"The Fine Print"
Because Guild Membership is free, we have received many bogus inquiries from people just trying to get their face on a website. Therefore, in an effort to keep our standard high without imposing draconian rules, we do check into resumes and follow up on references. The Guild reserves the right to remove existing members or deny potential members that are found not to be legitimate professional Fight Directors. To this end, individuals who submit padded or false resumes will not be considered for membership. The video sample is not judged or critiqued-- it exists only to demonstrate that an individual can produce substantial evidence of formal work upon demand. The Guild is looking for active members who are truly interested in sharing and collaborating. The absence of one or all of these requests will not necessarily halt the membership process, but will lead to more intensive investigation and background checks before membership is finalized.
