A Custom Synthesizer for Wind Control

Synths

The photo above shows some of the DIY synthesizer equipment I've built over the years.

The cabinet on the left contains a hybrid (digitally controlled analog) synthesizer, designed for easy implementation of the patches I have found to be most useful for wind control. This unit is played from the wind controller using patches established under control of a PIC microcontroller system, seen in the small enclosure in front of the cabinet. The patch data are stored on a PC interfaced to the microcontroller.

The middle cabinet contains a variety of patchable synthesizer modules. These are mainly from the Electronotes newsletter; they include several of my own designs that were published there.

On the right is a cabinet containing more modular synthesizer circuits, a 36-channel fixed-frequency filter bank, and some commercial sound processors.
