Kathy and I attended the fundraiser for the twins and were amazed at the community's outpouring of support.
It has taught us both to apprecite every moment of our lives. We can only hope and pray that a cure will be found for this disease.
We both send our deepest sympathies on the passing of Graham.

Dear Friends,
I have been thinking of you all week. Today as you "celebrate" Grahams life, I know how you will truly feel. You will celebrate his wonderful, beautiful life but there will be so much more in your hearts today. It will be a difficult day, know that I am on my knees praying for you. I don't understand any of this with our children and it makes me mad but at the end of the day and many times during the day, I still pray.
I pray for peace in your hearts. Be still....

" Hug that come From Heaven "
When you feel a gentle breeze
Caress you when you sigh
It's a hug sent from Heaven,
From Graham way up high.
If a soft and tender raindrop,Lands upon your nose
He has added a small kiss,As fragile as a rose.
If a song you hear fills you with a feeling of sweet love
It's a hug sent from Heaven
From your special child up above.
If you awaken in the morning, to a robins chirping song.
It's music sent from Heaven,To help you face each day long.
If tiny little snowflakes, land upon your face
It's a hug sent from Heaven
from a little angel face .
So keep the joy in your heart,If you're lonely my dear friends

They are all hugs sent from Heaven

to help med your broken heart my friends.

Dear Kirsten & Ian,
I have been following your website about Graham and his sis Taylor, ever since Delta told me about the children's condition. It sadden me this morning to read in the paper of Graham's passing. I know this must be a very very difficult time for you both and your family. We send my sympathy, our love and support, for words we can not find nor do I think there is many that may give you the comfort after losing your precious child.
Our prayers are with you both and may the wounds of a broken heart heal in time and may you find comfort in that each an everyone of us were given a special place on this earth to leave our presents and essence that we existed; some for a longer time then others before we leave this earthy plain.
Please give Delta, Jim & Josh our love and that we send our sympathy to them also.

Because of what I am currently enduring, I am inspired by your children and your mothering. My circumstances are different, however, because my son is 30 and an Iraq war veteran. He has a mysterious illness that no one at the Veterans Administration can explain or find results with a test. We have been through the Cancer scare, the Tuberculosis scare, the tumor scare, and now we have a new thing going on that has me so worried I can't sleep. BUT, your story of PERSEVERENCE has inspired me to make about 25 phone calls today in an effort to keep the "Bulldog Mentality" to find out what is the matter with my son once and for all. I am glad I found your website (by reading your son's obituary). What a darling family you have - your children are all beautiful. I am a Christian, and I can see your Graham in Heaven with our Lord and Savior. I will pray for him, and for Taylor. You are inspiring me to fight for my son too.

I couldn't believe my ears when I saw the absolutely gorgeous family on the news about a year ago - their twin children afflicted with MLD. There was no explanation needed for what that meant. Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of your most precious Graham. You are in my prayers.

What a brave family you are and I understand your heartbreaks and uptimes because I had a neice and nephew that had a very similar disease called Battens Disease. Even though we haven't spoken in many years, today I decided to Google your names & see if any contact info came up. It was at that point I was directed to your website. It is an almost unbearable reminder - that every single life - even a child's - is a life that we don't own, they are God's, and they are gifts to us.
We are amazed at the enormity of Graham's gifts to us! He and Taylor have made a huge impact by making people FEEL and CARE and ACT and APPRECIATE. Everyone touched by your story is changed by it, and their perspective is set right. We're both thankful and so sorry for that.
Believe that he is free and whole and at peace.

In Graham's journey on earth and now up to heaven he has taught us all the power of touch and love (among many other things), we all were fortunate to hold him in our arms and cherish him. We cling to the promise in James 4:8 for you that says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
You sharing your journey with all of us has meant so much. We can't imagine what it would be like to lose a child, whether expecting it or not. There is probably such a sense of loss combined with the relief that Graham is now free of pain and fear, finally healthy and vibrant in heaven. You are in our prayers~

To the family and friends of a precious angel named Graham,

I know life takes us on journeys that we can never quite understand? I was somehow guided to your web-site today by fate. I just finished watching the movie "Lorenzo's Oil" and decide to go on line to do some research to understand how far the research has developed since 1992. It lead me to your site about your beautiful twins. I immedicately noticed that Graham was now with the angels. I felt in my heart that I must leave my words of love and support for your family. None of us are strangers in the eyes of God. I have a five year old daughter who wants to pray for all of you and mostly Graham. I hope my words can send some kind of love to all of you in this moment of great sorrow. God Bless Graham and his tender kind soul and to all who love him so much.

Dear Kirsten and Ian,

Graham was such a sweet boy, truely an angel. I am so blessed to have had the chance to meet him and take care of him in the hospital. I am so sorry for your loss, but it is comforting to know Graham is not suffering any longer. You are such a strong and brave family for all you have been through, you set an example for the rest of us to live by. From my family, and all the nurses at Emanuel who took care of Graham, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you for your special angel. I hope Graham is in a happy place, pain free, to be the little boy that he was unable to be his last couple of years. I cannot think of anything to say that would ease the pain of losing Graham. My heart and much love goes out to Kirsten, Ian, Braden, Rian, Taylor and the entire family...If you ever need anything, PLEASE let me know. Sincerely, Lynn Mattern

Dear Ian, Kirstan, Braden, Taylor and Rian,
13...14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.{Mark 10:13-16}

Graham's immortal and eternal soul is more keenly alive now in a wonderful place where we will all be gathered as well one day. I know that all the folks on the other side are crying tears of joy in welcoming his innocent little spirit. We can be assured that he is loved and safe when we speak to our Heavenly Father through our prayers.
May God bless you and all of those who knew and loved Graham.

Dearest Kirsten and Ian,
I felt compelled to look up the word "grace" upon returning home from what was an amazing evening sending off this beautiful angel to play freely in the kingdom of heaven. One definition said grace is, "a virtue coming from God." I have been moved and in awe of the grace you have shown throughout this journey from the early questioning to the extended diagnosis to the inevitable goodbye, your grace has been unwavering.

I hope to embrace parenthood with just a smidgeon of the compassion, courage, tenderness and grace that you both have modeled and shown me. Thank you. May the spirit that moves all things bring our angel Bubs to a special place where Taylor and us all can someday join him to play in green fields, eat icecream, and dance with Elmo.

All our love and blessings to you,

Dearest Kirsten and Ian,
After spending a wonderfully tearful evening with you seeing Bubs on to the "next place" he will go, my heart is heavy and full of so much love for you all and appreciation for how enriched my life is having spent time traveling this journey with your family and getting to hold Bubs on the gift of my week which has been Mondays. Mondays with Taylor and Graham have helped remind me of what matters in life, the meaning of courage, and how sometimes the most beautiful experiences in life are not devoid of pain. But how through that pain we learn the true value of what it means to be alive and to really, really live. I'm learning more and more from your family how to live, how to accept what spirit brings, and how to give and receive love along the way.

I wanted to express my deepest sympathy and my greatest joy, in celebration of Gramham's life. I have the sweetest memory of your "showing up" at our home, girlfriend in hand, to ask if you could "take Rien on a walk". You were a natural and loving mother since the time you were just a little girl. I know that your children, and Graham specifically, must have been deeply blessed.
