May 15, 2012 - In the Midst of Oppression...God is There

John 17: 17 – 19 (Jesus said) - Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.  As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus Name,

Grace, peace and love to you through Jesus Christ our Risen Lord and Savior.

We are rapidly winding down our Easter se...ason but the meaning and message of Easter lasts forever.
Remember it was through the love and grace of God we are made right with God – that is we receive God’s justification through the outpouring of God’s grace. God has done such a wonderful ting for us!!

Although God has assumed responsibility for the world’s salvation through God’s grace, that does not leave us off the hook!! For God not only justifies us but God sanctifies us for the work in the world.

Sanctification is simply being “set aside’ for a special purpose and sensational plan – God’s purpose and God’s plan!! You and I are special, unique creations God has reserved for a particular purpose.

Do you remember, back in the day, when there were church clothes and play clothes? Clothes you wore for Sunday morning and others you wore for Sunday afternoon? You would not play tackle football or climb a tree in your Sunday clothes. They were special, different, set apart from the rest of your wardrobe.

Well, it is the same for God’s children. We are special, different, set apart. God does not want for us to be treated in a wrong way, in an abusive manner. God does not wish for us to treat ourselves in the wrong way, in an abusive manner.

Instead, pray for Jesus to sanctify your life. To set you apart and use you for God’s divine glory – to bring love to a world which turns to hate. Let God sanctify us through the gift of God’s Holy Spirit.

Love, Pastor G
