COME
JOIN US AT THE POLLS
In November 2006, we plan to offer voters a chance to
sign our petition at a majority of the larger and middle-sized polling
places in Maine.
You must be
a registered Maine voter to collect signatures on our petitions. If you are not yet registered
to vote, please go to your town hall as soon as possible and register.
Although you
must be a registered Maine voter to collect signatures, you do not
have to be registered in the specific town where you plan to collect
them. We will have a presence
in every county of the state. Even so, some of our volunteers may have to travel
15-30 minutes to reach one of the polling places where we plan to
focus our activity. Click here
to view a list of polling places where your help is most needed. If you cannot view this list, call Steve
Whiting at 1-207-780-0681 and he will help you in picking a location.
IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS FOR DOWNLOADING (PDF format)
(1) Click here
to view a set of instructions for the collection of signatures. This
should be printed out and taken with you to the polls.
(2) Click here
to print out a "Certificate
of Registration" form. Bring the printed certificate form to the
voter registrar / town clerk in the town where you are registered to vote
for certification, either before or after you gather signatures. See
instructions under item (1) for further details.
(3) If
you need additional petition forms, most office supply stores can print out
them for you in the required format (two-sided printing, on 11 by 17 inch
paper). To download the front side of the petition
form, click here. To download the back
side, click here. Provide the printing staff at your preferred
store with these PDF files via e-mail, or ask them to download the files
directly from www.noslotsforme.org/pets.html.
