The Commentary

The local paper has gone off about the rising number of arrest despite theuir best efforts to make programs available for those arrested. Seems they believe you can change those who don't want to be changed by sending them to class. And if by chance they don't go to class you just go on and rearrest them. And what with the recent zero tolerance push for parole and probation violations following the Carlie Brucia murder there are even more inmates. And the push to rid the streets of the homeless by any means possible, especially locking them up for sleeping on the street, homeless duh, or putting them away for having an open container, duh homeless, they are drinking at home, the street. Well with all this the head folks in charge just cannot understand why more people are being arrested this year than last. They've even paid a consultant over a half million to tell them why more people are being arrested. And I have to wonder why we pay these idiots to do anything. Since the people being arrested most likely do not want to be arrested I'm betting the police have something to do with the rising arrest rates. Who would have thunk it. And with the shocked, suprised, and disbelieving way the county officials are dealing with the problem my guess is they are getting ready to push for more funds to build an even bigger jail, a local mini prison if you will, for all the folks who just refuse to comply.

Freedom. Ain't it grand.

But that is snarky and unproductive. I really had a good idea about how to handle some of the problems. We know there are homeless folks who will stay homeless. And drunks who will drink on the streets. And we know we are spending lots of money trying to find a solution to what really shouldn't be a problem but the rich folks don't want to see poor people or drunks littering their lovely paid for by their hard earned taxes sidewalks. Leaving the poor homeless drunks with no place to go to do what poor homeless drunks do. Drink until they pass out and stink. But if cities and ounties everywhere were to start parks manned with police presence that have bating facilities and allow the drunks to sleep in the bushes and drink like fish then they do have a place to go. And the police are there to not only insure the public safety but that of the homeless as well.

But since that makes some sense on so many levels and still allows drunks to be drunks and homeless folks to live outdoors in our fine cities I'm sure no one in charge could ever allow it to happen. Or not.

The Moon is in Leo the Lion, where pride can turn self-righteous. This is a dangerous path to take for it often leads to arrogance. As the Moon conjuncts serious Saturn today, we may want to shout our dissatisfaction right out loud. But it's not just about complaining, for we are quite likely to disclose our more positive feelings, too. We shouldn't tell others about our love, though, as it's better to just show them. We may not need to rely as much on language to express exactly what we mean.

"For twenty-five centuries, Western knowledge has tried to look upon the world. It has failed to understand that the world is not for the beholding. It is for hearing. It is not legible, but audible. Our science has always desired to monitor, measure, abstract, and castrate meaning, forgetting that life is full of noise and that death alone is silent: work noise, noise of man, and noise of beast. Noise bought, sold, or prohibited. Nothing essential happens in the absence of noise." "Jacques Attali"

A construction worker walks into a bar. He's a rather large, menacing guy. He orders a beer, chugs it back, and bellows, "All you guys on this side of the bar are a bunch of idiots!" A sudden silence descends.

After a moment he asks "Anyone got a problem with that?" The silence lengthens.

He then chugs back another beer and growls, "And all you guys on the other side of the bar are all scum!" Once again, the bar is silent.

He looks around belligerently and roars, "Anyone got a problem with that?" A lone man gets up from his stool unsteadily and starts to walk towards the man.

"You got a problem, buddy?"

"Oh no; I'm just on the wrong side of the bar."

I got to thinking which is something I do all the time whether I need to or not, about executions. The practice of a people executing their own to send a message of some sort or another. And how one group of people can be offended by anothers choice of means to this end. We, Americans, find those nasty beheadings monstrous. I mean who in their right mind marches those to be executed out in front of people so they can watch heads roll? And the answer to that is just about everybody at one time or another. The French developed the guillotine to speed the whole process along and take a bit of the nasty out of it. King Henry had a liking of it's use in dealing with marital difficulties. Headhunters around the planet collected heads as totems. As a group we humans seem to enjoy our blood sacrifices. We like things a little messy. So any wonder there are those in other nations who find our cold clinical lethal injection approach less than satisfying.

But that is all babble and mind drippings. The real thought came down to executions in Saudi Arabia. They are no worse than China or America when it comes to killing their own and those from afar. What bothers me is the reasons folks can be executed there. Here in America as gays demand equal rights for equal pay, what? they want to get married? like it's been working out for straights statistically speaking of course, go figuire, but anyways here in this grande country our gubberment is not executing people for being gay. Saudi Arabia? You betcha. Not all I am sure are caught. I'm sure the richest aren't held to the same standards as the poor just like everywhere else, but.............. They are being killed for doing what is tolerated or allowed in much of the world. And drugs. Get caught here in this fine country and you probably will go to jail unless of course you fall into that richer than the rest of us gap. There are laws allowing for the death sentence to be passed in some drug cases. But they aren't being used. We don't execute our crackheads. Our potheads are not beheaded, gassed, hanged, injected, or electrified. In this respect this country is much much better than that other country. The form in which societys vengence is passed matters little to me. It still amounts to death. In some cases I feel death is most warranted. Sometimes I feel it isn't. So if it came down to backing which country I'd rather live in and which one's laws I would rather abide by I'm sticking with the USofA. But it do seem to me that accepting things on one level does not mean I have to accept all the levels. For instance........

15 of 19 highjackers Saudi Arabian. The lion's share of funding for terrorist organizations coming out of Saudi Arabia. A country that executes it's people for things I feel aren't a crime of any sort. And this is all accepted and okayed by my government. Saudi Arabia is not on that list of countrys that have horrible human rights violations, because...................... we get our oil there. Can't mess up big bizness nor their plans for global domination just to drive home the point that the Saudi Arabia might need to practice a bit more Sufi than Wahhabi. Nor can we make a noise about China and the abuses that go on there. They are trying to change after all, and who cares if a few dissidents get executed anyways. It just seems that our gubberment and our media seem to ignore one groups bad actions while higlighting the horrors of another group doing the exact same thing for the exact same reasons. All because there are dollars tied into the one decision and stolen ones tied into the other. So while I bash Bush and my own government as failures who aren't helping our nation I don't for a minute want people to think I like the other guys any better. I think they are all wrong. And that as soon as the regular people from all lands start to converse freely we might be better off as a whole in understanding our similar need for change rather than fight about our slight differences.

Or not.

The Moon is in her home sign, Cancer the Crab, reflecting our desire for emotional security. The Crab lives at the edges of the unfathomable oceans in a nutrient-rich environment with very little stability. As the tides constantly change, so do the waters of our own feelings. Today, however, with mental Mercury supporting stable Saturn, we seek the constancy beneath the apparent fluctuations of our needs. A serious attitude can make what we communicate now even more important.

Set about reading through the blogroll. Got into the B's from the top and into the T's from the bottom. I'll have to come back to it later. Found a terrible picture to post. The evil me found it twisted when compared with yesterdays picture. In one we see dogs eating people. In the next dogs prepared for people to eat. A sick form of revenge I guess. A way of getting back at those foul canines for crossing that border of biting the hands that feed you. And full circle we come to what this world truly is all about. Its a dog eat dog eat people eat dog world with any number of other animals thrown in there just for good measure. As I watch my leaders, both govermental as well as spiritual, fall further down the hole I am shaken to my very being. The trappings are falling away and the bricks at the back of the theater are becoming ever so easy to see. But enough of that crap.

I've been slacking. On everything. All of it. Maybe I needed a break to recharge the batteries or maybe I've reached my limits of what I can take. Whatever the case I've been a slacker and will try and catch up on everything. All of it. The whole thing. Tomorrow. But maybe just maybe I'll archive tonight. The Moon is in quirky Aquarius today, where we tend to intellectualize our feelings. We are, however, somewhat confused now, for the Moon conjuncts dreamy Neptune diffusing our clarity. Although we attempt to be more rational, there is also less passion currently available to us. This is further emphasized by mental Mercury, now in picky Virgo, forming a harmonious trine with assertive Mars, now in determined Taurus. We may be better able to verbalize our intentions, but they will tend to be more practical than emotional.

The Commentary

The other day the wife caught the kids playing truck. They had climbed their butts into my truck and were driving along without a care in the world. How cute. Until you get into the truck at six in the morning just to find out every button and dial has been turned on or off as needed or not. But it was still nice to see. They were getting along and they were using their imagination. Something we adults lose. We adults need a board to see where we stand in the game. We need pieces to represent ourselves. We need cash to see how much we are currently worth. We adults who are supposedly so much better than these uneducated creatures can no longer just imagine. We lose that in the cares of how we look and what others must think of us. We grow up and away from imagination. We get our feet firmly planted in reality. Alot like those poor souls wearing concrete shoes. And then along comes death to shove us into the harbor. And we are the better for it.

Aren't we?

I had a dream wake me up. Forcing me from a long series of strange dreams into a harsh reality I had no real wish to return to. Bills and work and jobs and responsibility heaped onto more responsibility that fills that empty spot we created when we left behind the backwoods backwards lifestyle to become civilized. But look at all we have gained. We get shoes and designer clothes and television shows and paper with which to blow our nose. All we've exchanged is our souls. And since there is no way to weigh or prove a souls existence what have we really lost? What indeed. But the dream forced me awake with a wonder. What God do my children believe exists today? Is their version of God something that can be found on TV or in a book or in a game? Is it one that forgives all or one that thorws all into a bottomless pit? Does their God teach hatred of our fellow man or is it one who loves us all?

Perhaps the dreams were brought on by a few pictures I saw while looking for the daily picture I was going to put up. One still haunts me in a very terrible way. Of the thousands of terrible pictures I see this one stuck. A small child starving and dying. A vulture in the background waiting patiently for lunch. A nice human lunch. A nice tender morsel of human child. Left behind by parents who had either already died or stranded their child so they might have a chance to live. The photographer who took the picture "supposedly" won fame for the picture. He also supposedly killed himself not that long afterwards. Depression took him much as starvation took the child. The picture showed so much that was wrong with the world. Much as the pictures of Katrina's aftermath show much that is wrong in America. The dead should not be left to decay where they fell. They should not be left for dogs to feed upon. And a starving child crawling towards food should not be left to crawl while vultures follow. Perhaps the phorographer took their own life because they did nothing when they should have done something. Or perhaps it was because they couldn't handle the reality of the world we live in. A world that really doesn't care if we live or die. A world that makes no distinctions between the deaths of children and the deaths of animals. A uncaring world that may or may not be ruled over by an uncaring God.

And the dream woke me. Maybe because I myself cannot come to terms with a God who would allow all these things to come to pass, let alone teach my children to believe such a God exist. Or to teach them that the world filled with men would allow such things and at worst make light of these things. No one person can take all this suffering and horror onto their shoulders. But perhaps many shoulders could. So what will I do to make things better? What can I do that will help change the lives of those who are really suffering? Send money to the Red Cross so another corporate asshole gets a corner office? Mail a check to the latest Christian organization so they can give Bibles to the starving? Perhaps for me money can not clear my conscience. Perhaps for me it will take a more hands on approach. But I know whatever it is I do I need to make sure it is the right thing to do because it isn't just me that does it but my children who will learn from it. Which God is it they will grow up believing in? The one who thinks money pays off guilt or the one that expects us to get our very own hands a little dirty trying to help those who truly cannot help themselves.

Guilt. It's a mother fucker ain't it.

The Moon is highly functional in cautious Capricorn today and we gravitate toward being more serious as we seek to establish firm foundations on which to build our lives. We can learn lessons now about integrity and patience. But the Moon also picks up on lovely trines to Mercury, Mars and the Sun, easing the pressure that arises from self-restraint. Meanwhile, the Sun in efficient Virgo also trines determined Mars in Taurus, encouraging us to be anything but patient. This grand earth trine emphasizes practical self-sufficiency but we must put the pragmatism to work.

A successful businessman flew to Vegas for the weekend to gamble. He lost the shirt off his back, and had nothing left but a quarter and the second half of his round trip ticket -- If he could just get to the airport he could get himself home. So he went out to the front of the casino where there was a cab waiting.

He got in and explained his situation to the cabbie. He promised to send the driver money from home, he offered him his credit card numbers, his drivers license number, his address, etc. but to no avail. The cabbie said (adopt appropriate dialect), "If you don't have fifteen dollars, get the hell out of my cab!" So the businessman was forced to hitch-hike to the airport and was barely in time to catch his flight.

One year later the businessman, having worked long and hard to regain his financial success, returned to Vegas and this time he won big. Feeling pretty good about himself, he went out to the front of the casino to get a cab ride back to the airport.

Well who should he see out there, at the end of a long line of cabs, but his old buddy who had refused to give him a ride when he was down on his luck. The businessman thought for a moment about how he could make theguy pay for his lack of charity, and he hit on a plan.

The businessman got in the first cab in the line, "How much for a ride to the airport," he asked? "Fifteen bucks," came the reply. "And how much for you to give me a blowjob on the way?" "What?! Get the hell out of my cab." The businessman got into the back of each cab in the long line and asked the same questions, with the same result.

When he got to his old friend at the back of the line, he got in and asked "How much for a ride to the airport?" The cabbie replied "fifteen bucks." The businessman said "ok" and off they went. Then, as the drove slowly past the long line of cabs the businessman gave a big smile and thumbs up sign to each driver.

Bush has fairly inept speech writers.

No really. Alot of what they pander to has already been pandered to a thousand times before. The spin machine plays the same old coin for the same fans again and again and again. While I know how Bush could easily defuse alot of his detractors. I hate sharing this knowledge because some scab somewhere will probably hear of it and run with the idea which is going to catch alot of the left off guard. But you my faithful readers will have been forwarned. You'll be ahead of the game once again all thanks to the power of the internet. Hear us roar. So with that babble out of the way, on with the show.

The Buck stops here. Alot of the ammo used by the left against Bush really amounts to that buck not stopping with the president. Because the left as a whole expects president Bush to step forward and take responsibility for the faults of the nation. For the intelligence failures in Iraq. For the attacks on the Twin Towers. For the time he sat in a chair reading My Pet Goat after hearing about the first plane. For the economy, the rate of pay, health care policy, Congress, the Supreme Court, poverty, and now for hurricane Katrina and it's aftermath. While I am down with most of you in believing the bastard lies in his sleep, that he is one of the scummiest presidents ever, ect, so many of the things the left is demanding accountability for could be deflected with him just stepping forward, saying "his" administration had found out another failure in big gubberment. That the buck stops here, and they were going to fix what others had left unfixed for so long. So each failure would be worded as their opportuinity to fix what was broken. They would be stopping the bucks and fixing the problems. And the illusion of accountability would be maintained. And since everything the normal public knows is what the TV box tells them it'll look like they are doing a bang up job of fixing things on our behalf.

Oh wait. That's what they tried with the hurricane. Didn't work. You bloggers went out and fact checked the dates and times and requotes and changes in history they would have perpetrated if it hadn't been for you. You posted it on your sites telling the story for folks who had started to open their eyes and ears to something other than the corporate owned consumerganda machine. And they went off and told friends or family and may or may have not opened their eyes as well. Damn you bloggers. But there's still the tried and true that they've been preaching to the true blue since the whole ball of nastiness began.

The only cow in a small Kentucky town stopped giving milk. The people did some research and found that they could buy a cow just across the state line in Illinois for $200.

They brought the cow from Illinois and the cow was wonderful. It produced lots of milk all of the time, and the people were very happy.

They decided to acquire a bull to mate with the cow to produce more cows like it. They would never have to worry about their milk supply again.

They bought the bull and put it in the pasture with their beloved cow. However, whenever the bull tried to mount the cow, the cow would move away. No matter what approach the bull tried, the cow would move away from the bull and he could not succeed in his quest. The people were very upset and decided to ask the Vet, who was very wise, what to do.

They told the Vet what was happening. "Whenever the bull tries to mount our cow, she moves away. If he approaches from the back, she moves forward. When he approaches her from the front, she backs off. An attempt from the side, she walks away to the other side."

The Vet thought about this for a minute and asked, "Did you by chance, buy this cow in Illinois?"

The people were dumbfounded, since no one had ever mentioned where they bought the cow. "You are truly a wise Vet," they said. "How did you know we got the cow in Illinois?"

The Vet replied with a distant look in his eye, "My wife is from Illinois."

The updates have been less of late. That aside and no sniveling about exhaustion or the heat lets move on to freestyle blogging from a filled to the gills white trash Floridian.

The wife's birthday was celebrated. Long before, not that much long before, the twin towers fell, her birthday was already established. But with the towers falling and the day becoming known as a day of mourning what a crock of shit thing to happen to your birthday when you'd hope everyone would be happy and smiling and having a grand old time. But we celebrated. Being old that means going out to eat. Once long ago it would have meant concerts and bars and keggers and nudity and frolicking and basic wanton behaviours. Being old it means eating out. We each had our fill at Red Lobsters. She less happy with her meal than I or the heathen children. Still she did somewhat enjoy. But growing older with each passing celebration combined with heathen children and not getting the food prepared and tasting like you'd want it to, well for her it wasn't the best of the best of the best. For this I am sorry. For the belly full of endless shrimp that reached an end for moi I am thankful. Enough of that, moving along.

The fucking aftermath. Which one some may ask. Piss off I say to them we know I mean Katrina and what looks to be a horrible clusterfuck perpetrated by our dear leaders and their faithful lapdogs. No where did I suspect for one instant that the leftist side of the dial would be able to find something to hook Bush to the hurricane. I mean I knew there would be loons out there blaming the huge secret weather machines we stole from the space aliens at Roswell for the whole mess. Those folks are a constant. They even occasionally get something right. But I didn't suspect once that there would be actual things that Bush has or hasn't done that would amount to a hill of beans in this current mess. And danged if I wasn't wrong.

We got the case of Patty Robertson suggesting killing another world leader because he won't toe the party line the new SS has adpoted. Then after the hurricane an offical link that has since been removed to Old Pats charity scam of the day. I say scam because all of them are. Open the books to full public disclosure or nothing. If that little boo boo isn't enough we have the wife and mother of two presidents, I'll leave the twist and turns of that comment alone while I mention her blathering on at the mouth about how lucky folks are to be in Texas and how the disaster has left them better off than ever and how she is somewhat scart these folks might or might not be staying and moving into her neighborhood. But both these events really cannot be blamed on the prez. These are free Americans making asses of themselves and do not represent us or our country nor do they need to uphold themselves to the same standards as we would expect our president to hold himself to.

But now I go hearing about how FEMA has screwed up and Bush's hand picked boy that headed it has been fired like the sacrificial sheep he is and how many of the other heads of the redesigned group that has been sucked up into Homeland Security are also hand picks of George's that show no knowledge of how to to do the jobs they were awarded for no other reason than knowing and helping Georgie get elected once or twice, and who knows he may be going for thrice. I mean the whole ball of wax along with the suggestion that it wouldn't have been the clusterfuck it is now if it had of been a rich neighborhood this happened to, a rich state, or a state that usually votes Republican right before an election happens and you really have to suspect so much of what is being said here there and everywhere as having credibility because our government doesn't have any any more.

My that was garbled. You see I go out checking my blog roll and see page after page of factoids that truly show a terrible picture of things as they are. Of our leaders. Of their decisions. And the fact these same pages after pages after pages were right so often when the press and the White House and their spokespeople have been at best wrong and at worst lying leads me to give these total nutjobs working blogs more credibility than the White House or Fox news or any damnded news agency out there at this current time. And they, those bloggers, seem all atwitter over the total fuck up that has happened after Katrina. Remember now folks I am from a hurricane plagued state. I have seen them. I have seen what they do. I know what it takes to fix things. The flooding is unusual due to the area it hit as well as the strength of the swell but folks, if dead bodies were floating around in Florida you'd hear about it. If a whole community of elderly were left to die and did because no one came to evacuate them or to save them, well you couldn't keep the seniors quite. Why did the police give two shits about looting when they could have instead been working towards helping those in need?

There are so many things wrong with what happened before during and after that I don't know where to begin and where to end. I just know it is an entire clusterfuck. And that leads me back to wondering how it is that everything George W Bush touches turns to crap. Everything he has done or tried seems to turn to shit. And through the entire mess he keeps smiling. His devotees keep telling us how great it is he is screwing up just the way he is. How lucky we all are that we have these mistakes to fix. What a wonderful country it is that he is selling out from under us. Because we are all just lucky duckies in the end. No health care payments to worry about. No IRA's to keep track off. No property to hold us back. We are free to be all we can be. And until we learn that all we can be is second class citizens who should be damned happy to take whatever pay they are willing to give us we can expect our jobs to be given to illegal immigrants who will gladly live thrity people to a house for five years so they can go back to their countries and retire.

You see folks the system sucks. It's sucked for a long time. A since there isn't any tea laying on the docks to throw in the harbor alot of us have nothing better to do than sit around bitching. And sniveling. And whining. On blogs. Everywhere.

And what ever happened to the whole Rovegate fiasco?

Or that Osama fellow who claimed to have ordered the bombing?

Today's Horoscopes

The Moon in fiery Sagittarius is keeping our lives active as she opens the doors to the adventures of learning. Our desire to expand our horizons can extend into the real world and might get us into trouble, unless we think about the consequences of what we do. Meanwhile, sweet Venus enters passionate Scorpio today where she remains until October 7. During this time we become more attracted to the intensity of romance, rather than the simple enjoyment of pleasure. It's surely time to deepen the game of love.

The Joke

One day a mom was cleaning junior's room and in the closet she found a bondage S&M magazine. This was highly upsetting for her. She hid the magazine until his father got home and showed it to him. He looked at it and handed it back to her without a word. She finally asked him, "Well what should we do about this?" Dad looked at her and said, "Well I don't think you should spank him."

Goodbye Gilligan. Thanks for the laughs.

Racism in New Orleans? Sure. Always has been. It ain't new. Racism in the South? Who woud have ever suspected? Well now that we have established that there is racism can we now establish that it isn't just about color? The poor for a miriad of reason take the hits hardest. There are more poor people than the very rich so of course more statistically would feel a natural disaster than the rich. A hurricane being the slow moving thing it is allows for those of means to move their asses out of the line of fire. Those with nothing stay and pray. And in the aftermath a wealthy consituency will always be favored over that that has nothing but needs. The wealthy will pay their way out. Pay for the best medical care. Pay top dollar to have thir homes restored and drained. The wealthy have cash and it talks. The poor have nothing but needs needing filled. These are obvious things. Those who need the most may or may not get help. The rest will be left to hang around until they figuire out its time to move on with things. It is the way things work and have always worked and probably will always work. Expecting any more is chasing unicorns.

But since Bush and his group have decided to make this an issue by politicing the event, well I feel justified in tossing my heaping helping of monkey poo into the arena as well. You see Iraq was news. Even when it was being overlooked in favor of celebrity trials or the latest murder or kidnapping or run away bride story. Well even then Iraq was still news. As a matter of fact it was starting to become real news. Then suddenly a hurricane comes along, slowly very slowly, they don't just sneak up on you ya know, and well the White House and their media minions are just tickled pink to be talking about something they are doing right. Seems they have finally conquered New Orleans. It is all a big success thanks to them and them alone. And I laugh inside at the irony of them taking credit for what is the natural order of things after a natural disaster. Conditions already layed down in police and fire and emergency service manuals across the nation. Policy layed out in Washington that predates these clowns arrival onto the scene. And happily they step forward to take a bow in saving our country. No where are there pictures of Iraq or soldiers to destract from the real issue. The really important things. Like the president actually doing what he is supposed to do. You know, respond to a national crisis even when he was on vacation. Really big of the guy to cut it short for a paltry thing like the little mess Katrina caused.

Today's Horoscopes

The Moon is in lovely Libra, where she makes everything appear better than it is. And today this tendency is exaggerated as the Moon first harmonizes with imaginative Neptune and then conjoins expansive Jupiter. We tend to trust our fantasies more than reality, even when confronted with the truth. However, this isn't just about denial, for our dreams contain the seeds of potential. Hold on to those that you want to grow in the days ahead, but remember to pay attention to the facts.

The Joke

A drunk phoned police to report that thieves had been in his car.

"They've stolen the dashboard, the steering wheel, the brake pedal, even the accelerator!" he cried out.

However, before the police investigation could start, the phone rang a second time with the same voice on the line.

"Never mind," he said with a hiccup, "I got in the back seat by mistake."

I'd like to welcome a few of my newest regular readers. While tickled I was when fellow Americans started reading me regular. And quite in a tizzy when Australians and several readers from the United Kingdom started being regulars in my stat counters. I've also made it into Asia as well as China. Some Obvious hits from Iraq, and all the ones that get my pantys in a twist from Washington servers labeled with that dot Gov heading. My latest readers are coming right out of the Middle East. Places I wonder might or might not cut off my head and sever my hands for things I say feel and write. The internet has allowed more free discussion and thought than any other medium or world change to date. Trade allowed for differing regional groups and religions to get together and trade for the benefit of all. Through this we acquired new foods and new taste as well as new words and new habits. The internet has done this and so much more. It has crossed all borders allowing real people to se how other real people live and think and believe. And now I have some new readers and with any luck I'll make a good impression for us all. If not, that Salmon Rushdie got mighty famous for something he wrote that no one would probably have read otherwise. Moving along.

While in the library, the toilet for my newest readers, I was reading through the local gazette. A story about GOP cuts that had to happen. Many of them I felt didn't need to happen. That we cut taxes to the richest while cutting services to the poorest and are finding new ways to cut health care and anything that seems to help poor sick people. Well that being another story I'll try and push on to the point I found hidden within the story. Seems there was some mention of tax breaks for oil and energy. Lauded was the tone. Just fine and dandy to give to the oil cartels. And that being another story I will again move on. Seems there was mention of the price hikes for gas due to the hurricane hitting New Orleans. Now with that Enron thing still in my mind. I mentined it the other day without fleshing it out for everyone. With the idea in my mind of what lies behind the profits and what other circles are being played I got to thinking about Alaska. You see with prices going up everywhere "due" to the hurricane there will be less problems pushing through the drilling projects in the Alaskan National Refuge. I mean this couldn't have worked out any better for Bush and his gang who have wanted to drill in Alaska for a long time any better if they had planned it. Just dumb luck I guess. Bush seems to have alot of dumb luck. Statistically speaking of course.

Today's Horoscopes

The Moon enters gracious Libra at 3:51 am EDT, a sociable position for this Labor Day holiday here in the USA. Libra is the sign of balance; we strive to make others comfortable by altering our own posture, thereby manifesting the inner host or hostess. But it's not a particularly lazy day, for Libra's key planet Venus is forming a mildly tense aspect with high-frequency Uranus, making it difficult to fully relax. The desire for unconventional activities will prevent the day from being too predictable. Always a day late or a dollar short I suggest you click this link for the latest horscope.

The Joke

A pastor explained to his congregation that the church was in need of some extra money, so he asked them to consider being more than generous. He offered that whoever gave the most would be able to pick three hymns.

After the offering plates were passed about the church, the pastor glanced down and noticed that someone had graciously offered a $1,000 bill. He was so excited that he immediately shared his joy with his congregation and said he'd like to personally thank the person who placed the money in the plate.

A very quiet, elderly, saintly lady in the back of the church shyly raised her hand. The pastor asked her to come to the front, so she slowly she made her way towards him.

The pastor told her how wonderful it was that she gave so much, and in thanks he asked her to pick out three hymns.

Her eyes brightened as she looked over the congregation. She pointed to the three most handsome men in the church and said, "I'll take him and him and him."
