Trailboard Painting

I never thought I'd put together a page just on painting the trailboards, but I had so many friends/family that wanted to see the pictures, and then it hit me it might be inspirational for someone else (took about 4-5 hours of painting)  When I started this, I didn't have any preconceived notion of what the final outcome was going to look like, other than "gold".  I used a weather proof "Patio Paint" made by DecoArt named Pot O' Gold (metallic).  This was a complete random purchase trying to find something that looked like gold leaf, was weather proof, and affordable.  I will have to update with a note on weather proof later, as I have just applied it.  I guess I assumed I was going to paint everything brilliant gold.  As it turned out, I discovered I was getting a really nice patina look to it, and decided not to coat it until brilliant gold, but leave it as is, where it ranges from brilliant to a bronze look depending on how the light hits it.  This is why there are so many pictures - to show the changes of light and angle.  If it holds up to the weather, I think we'll call this an afternoon well spent!
