Performance Opportunities

Student recitals

Each February and June, In Good Voice School of Singing presents a vocal recital. These recitals are open to anyone who is interested in the challenge of performing in front of an audience, from beginner to the advanced singer. Each performer sings two to three songs with an accompanist (no recorded accompaniments allowed), and is required to attend two musicales and a dress rehearsal in preparation of the performance.

Performance Fee: The recital cost is split among the participants.

Musicales

Approximately once a month, In Good Voice School of Singing offers students an opportunity to practice their performing skills at one of the informal solo performance sessions called musicales. An accompanist is provided. Songs and arias need not be at performance level, so the musicales are a chance to test students' limits in a safe, supportive environment. No guests are permitted to attend, and everyone who shows up has to sing something (students are to bring their own piano/vocal arrangement).

Seattle Glee Clubs

Many of our students are actively involved in the nonprofit music and theater performance organization Seattle Glee Clubs (SCG), and Mr. Gulhaugen and Mr. Halsey are a part of the artistic staff. Seattle Glee Clubs was founded by Mr. Gulhaugen in 1993 and has since become a thriving community choral and theatrical organization. Currently, Mr. Gulhaugen directs The Offbeats Vocal Ensemble and is the music director for The Olio Players. Mr. Halsey joined the SGC staff in 2002 and is the Prelude Glee Club director and the writer/stage director for The Olio Players.
