Iris Pasic contact | back to main gallery | myspace page I was born and raised in Sarajevo, Bosnia. I have been in the United States since 1991. I graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001. While attending SAIC I studied printmaking, photography, and video focusing on socio-political issues and personal experiences as an activist as subject matter. During my studies I met many fascinating individuals with truly unique perspectives who inspired me to travel and spend time in rather ecclectic places and expand my conciousness in a non-institutional manner, so to say. The "things" that I learned during my travels and from the people that met and walked with me on my path profoundly influenced the way I see everything around me and how I process, store and implement that learned knowledge. My experiences appreceably changed the content of the pictures that I produce and even the very way that the lines come pouring out of me. For the past two years I have been arduously delving into the conglomeration of "things" that my mind has held on to and dilligently processing and expelling it onto paper or canvas using watercolor crayons and other water soluble media; and trying to decrypt and more fully understand the meaning and origins of the recurring images and symbols that flow into all that I draw. |
