LOCAL 802 PRESIDENT

Tino Gagliardi was educated at The University of Hartford, Hartt School of Music, where he did both his undergraduate and graduate work.

He has worked as a trumpet player in NY's concert, club date and recording fields and on Broadway, where his work is now concentrated. He has played 10 Broadway shows over the past twenty years and has subbed on many others.

His work on Broadway led to membership on the Theatre Committee, where he was elected to serve on its 2003 negotiating team, becoming its chair in 2007. He was one of the authors of the Theatre Committee Bylaws and of the Commercial Off-Broadway Area Standards boilerplate contract language. He became Theatre Committee co-chair in 2005 and chair in 2007, relinquishing that position upon his election as President of Local 802. He remains a member of RMA-NY, having served as its Secretary from 2007 until his recent 802 election victory.

In 2003, Tino was elected to the Local 802 Executive Board where he served on the Public Relations, Anne Walker Scholarship Fund, Emergency Relief Fund, and Financial Oversight Committees. He participated in the Cornell University School for Industrial and Labor Relations certificate program and was involved in contract negotiations for the Roundabout Theatre and Manhattan Theatre Club agreements where substantial gains were made in both wages and pension contributions.

Tino has been a panelist on many Special Situations hearings and authored language for a new schedule of 802's Limited Pressing Agreement which established improved working conditions for musicians who record Off-Broadway cast albums by integrating key standards of the AFM Phono Agreement.

He is particularly proud of the 2006 "When the Grinch Stole Christmas" Broadway agreement in which he was a key negotiator. Tino saw this negotiation, in which the musicians were consulted and fully integrated into every stage of the process, as a model for representative negotiation.

This dedication to respect for musicians, trust in their judgment and commitment to their best interests will be the hallmark of a Tino Gagliardi Presidency.
