THE BONATESTA FAMILY HISTORY
Giuseppi Bonatesta, a tailor born in Motta Santa Lucia Italy in 1871 arrived in
New York on July 31st 1890 on board the "Elysia" which set sail from the port of Naples.
Giuseppi was my Great Uncle. He returned to Italy some years later, remaining to establish his roots and live his life.
Giovanni Bonatesta, born in Motta Santa Lucia Italy in 1881, arrived in New York on March 19, 1892 on board the "Chandernagor", also set sail from the port of Naples.
It is believed his other brother Carmine Bonatesta accompanied him on this voyage.
Giovanni was my Grandfather and Carmine my second Great Uncle.
These brothers ultimately remained following trips back and forth and finally settled in Barnesboro Pennsylvania establishing the Bonatesta United States roots.

Currently, Bonatesta family descendants are known to be living in Italy, the U.S., England, Switzerland, Australia and Argentina.
