About The Club
Organization
The Batavia Accelerators club is non-profit youth club that promotes
development and participation in the sports
of cross country, track and field and road
racing. We are a club member of the USA Track and Field Association
(USATF) and the Amateur Athletic
Union (AAU).
Local USATF activities are coordinated with the
Illinois Association of
USA Track and Field organization.
Our cross country and indoor and outdoor
track meets are with other USATF clubs, AAU clubs, schools and
other organizations.
We commonly offer some of our seasonal programs through
the Batavia Park District.
The club is active all year round.
Philosophy
Our emphasis is on having fun while learning about the sport and
competing in cross country meets, track meets and road races. No prior
experience is required, just a desire to run.
We are family oriented and encourage parent
participation in club activities. It is common to have several
parents, some accompanied by younger and older siblings of team members,
run along with us at our practices.
We also encourge the learning of our sport. Athletes, coaches and
parents benefit from a deeper understanding of the rationale behind the
training and preparation for competition in track and field. A list
of available training resources has been compiled for your benefit.
Membership
All interested youths from ages 7 (born in 1999) to 18 are welcome
to join. Club members are not required to be residents of Batavia.
Membership details are available on the
membership page.
Coaching
The Batavia Accelerators club coaches have years of running and coaching
experience. They share the philosophy outlined above. Their bios
are available on the coaches page.
Governance
The Batavia Accelerators club is governed by a board of directors
consisting of parents and
coaches. Board meetings are held on a regular
basis and are announced on this web site. The club
bylaws are also
available.
