Meet The Coaches

The entire coaching staff is made up of volunteers. Parent volunteers are welcome at the practices.


Scott Kurth's picture

Scott Kurth began running while attending the Milwaukee Public Schools. He ran for the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, majoring in Physiology and Kinesiology and minoring in Dance and Philosophy. He has run several marathons and ultramarathons throughout his running career.

Scott has coached the University of Wisconsin Whitewater Women's Cross Country Club. At the prep level, he coached track and field at Suffix-Hamilton (Wisconsin) High School for two years, the last year as the head coach.

Tom Jurgens' picture

Tom Jurgens began running in 1972 at Proviso West High School. During his sophomore and junior years he was a member of their cross country state qualifying squad. He ran his senior year at Willowbrook High School where he posted times of 4:20 and 9:17 in the one and two mile events. In college he ran for the University of Illinois Chicago, specializing in the 5k with a personal best of 14:35 which qualified him for the NCAA Division II national meet. He has a marathon best of 2:33, which he ran in Chicago.

Tom has been a coach with the Accelerators since its inception. He also has four years of youth soccer coaching experience. He is a Level I certified USA Track and Field (USATF) coach and has completed the American Sport Education Progranm (ASEP) Sport First Aid and Coaching Principles courses.

Sergio Olache has years youth soccer and basketball coaching experience. He is also a current assistant scout master (BSA).

Fritz DeJongh has been running for several years. He has competed in local road races from the 5k to half marathons. He has coached youth soccer for several years and has been a middle school math club organizer and tutor.

Tom Spadafora has 29 years of running experience. He has competed in track and field, cross country and road races.
