Sept. 18th 2003 Meet Results
The September 18th meet was held at Linclon Park in Aurora. The weather was sunny, in the low eighties and a very light breeze. We competed with teams from seven middle schools, Washington, Jewel, Jefferson, Cowherd, Waldo, Simmons and Oswego-Traughber. There were two races, a girls and a boys, both 1.7 miles long.

Our girls were led by Murphy Kurth in 5th with a time of 11:32. Murphy showed excellent focus in the latter part of the race, passing several runners during that portion of the race. Our newest team member, Lauren Stephans ran an execllent 12:49 time, good for 17th place, a very promising effort, considering that Lauren joined the team and did her first practice on the day before the meet. Rachel Gilmore placed 32nd in 14:14, a pace faster than last week's one mile race.

The boys team garnered an impressive second place finish. They totaled 67 points, bested only by Waldo's 35 and outdistancing Jewel's 78, Oswego-Traughber's 105, Jefferson's 180, Washington's 182 and Cowherd's 190. This effort is magnified by the fact that the six runners for Batavia's boys are presently enrolled, from our first runner to our final runner, in 8th, 7th, 5th, 6th, 6th, and 8th grades. Their places were Josh Stein (9:50) in 4th, Stephan Jurgens (9:52) in 5th, Thomas Olache (10:39) in 16th, Daniel Olache (10:44) in 17th, Mike Schmidt (11:26) in 25th and David Allen (11:58) in 32nd.
