September 25th 2003 Home Meet
On September 25th, we hosted St. Peters School
(Geneva) and St. Patricks school (St. Charles) in a meet at Mooseheart.
Many thanks to the Mooseheart staff for their support of the meet.
The weather was sunny in the low 60's, with a light wind from
the northwest. Four races were ran, 5th-6th grade boys, 5th-6th grade
girls, 7th-8th grade boys and 7th-8th grade girls. The course is a
flat 3/4 mile loop on grass, the 5th and 6th grade runners ran two loops
(1.5 miles), while the 7th and 8th grade runners ran three (2.25 miles).
Our 5th/6th grade boys contingent was led by Thomas Olache with a
strong 2nd place finish in 10:38. He was followed closely by Daniel Olache
in 5th (10:57) and Mike Schmidt in 6th (11:06). We did not have any runners
in the 5th/6th grade girls race. Our 7th/8th grade boys runners were led
by Stephan Jurgens (1st in 15:04) and Josh Stein (3rd in 15:26). David
Allen continued his improvement with an 18:38 clocking (12th). The
7th/8th grade girls continued our strong string of performances with the
one - two finish by Murphy Kurth (16:55) and Erin Schafer (17:05).
Lauren Stephans ran a gutsy race in 19:53 (9th).
