September 14th 2004 Home Meet The meet started at 4:15pm under sunny and warm conditions with temperatures in the low 80's and a moderate south-west wind. The first event was the 7th grade combined girls and boys race. This 1.5 mile race is two laps on the 3/4 mile course. Our 7th graders were led by Dan Olache who set a strong aggressive pace early in the race and finished with a 3rd place finish in 10:15, which is 42 seconds faster than the time that he ran last year as a sixth grader. Michael Schmidt placed 10th in 11:01 eclipsing his previous year's effort by 5 seconds. Carly Schottes ran a 14:48 and 38th place in her inaugural race for the Accelerators. The one lap Pee Wee race was next, with Jorden Berendt and Nicholas Olache pacing the field in 5:58 and 5:59, respectively. Peter Olache, Spencer Kurth and Joe Rothengass finished as a pack in 8th to 10th place with times of 6:39.1, 6:39.6 and 6:40.9. The 5th and 6th grade girls race was next followed by the boys 5th and 6th grade race was next. Tom Olache won the race in a (5th-6th grade) course record time of 9:53, 45 seconds faster than the winning time he ran last year as a 5th grader. Brian Lirot ran a 15:55 and 32nd place in his first race as an Accelerator. The 8th grade combined girls and boys 2.25 mile race was the last event of the day. St. Charles Haines won the team scoring with 32 points, with the Accelerators being edged out for second place by St. Peters 51 to 54. Individually, Stephan Jurgens won the race with a 14:15 time, breaking his own course record that he set last year. Robbie Blotter ran a strong race featuring a last lap faster than any of his competitors and finishing in 3rd with a 14:36 clocking. Peter DeJongh, running his first race for the Accelerators, turned in a 16:28 good for 11th place. Michael Baglieri, who joined the team 10 days ago, was our fourth man with a 17:05 and 19th place. Will Deuerling completed our top five with a 29th place finish in 19:03. Murphy Kurth was the third 8th grade girl finisher, 29th overall in 18:06.
