September 21st 2004 Away Meet
On September 21st, we traveled to Thompson Middle School in Oswego for meet with Oswego Thompson Middle School and Drauden Point.

The meet started at 4:15pm under sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's.

Two races were run. The first event was the 1.5 mile 5th, 6th and 7th grade combined girls and boys race. Dan and Tom Olache led our team with 2nd and 3rd place finishes in 9:55 and 10:03, respectively. Dan and Tom ran close to the first place runner most of the race and nearly caught him on the hill located 500 meters from the finish line. They were followed by Mike Schmidt and Shaun Berendt in 5th and 6th place with clocking of 10:39 and 10:41, only seconds behind the fourth place finisher. Brian Lirot rounded out our scoring with a time of 15:57.

The final race contested was the 8th grade boys and girls two mile race. Stephan Jurgens won the race with a time of 12:08, separating himself from the second place finisher with a strong move just past the mile mark. Robbie Blotter continued our strong showing with a 3rd place finish in 12:48. Robbie caught and passed the eventual fourth place finisher with a strong charge up the hill at 500 meters to go. Our third runner today was Mike Baglieri, garnering 7th place in a time of 14:10. Peter DeJongh ran a gutsy race placing 12th in 14:51. Will Deuerling captured 18th with a blazing final sprint in 16:34. Murphy Kurth solidly won the girls competion with a 15:10 effort.
