September 23rd 2004 Away Meet
On September 23rd, we traveled to Lincoln Park in Aurora for a meet with Jewel (North Aurora), Jefferson (Aurora), Waldo (Aurora), Wredling (St. Charles), Washington (Aurora) and Aurora Christian Schools.

The meet started at 4:30pm under sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's. Meet consisted of two races, a girls and a boys race, both approximately 1.7 miles long.

Murphy Kurth and Carly Schoetter represented the team in the girls race. They competed well, garnering 17th and 59th places in a field of over 75 runners, with times of 11:52 and 14:40.

The boys race had 90+ competitors. Our boys team placed second with a team score of 41 points, which was identical to the first place St. Charles Wredling's score. The race was decided by the sixth men, who were themselve separated by a mere 3 seconds. Individually, Stephan Jurgens won the race with a strong finish in 9:31, passing the second place runner wih 200 meters to go. Robbie Blotter captured third place in 9:57, beating the fourth place runner by a comfortable margin. Tom and Dan Olache finished 10th and 11th in the midst of a group of runners and with times of 10:41.1 and 10:41.7. Rapidly improving Michael Baglieri ran a strong aggresive race for 16th place in 10:56. Michael Schmidt finished 24th with a time of 11:11, followed by Peter DeJongh in 29th at 11:20. One of our newest runners, Shaun Berendt ran tough, garnering 36th place with a time of 11:46. Will Deuerling ran a solid race with a 13:02 clocking for 56th place. Our youngest middle schooler, Brian Lirot, continued his improvement with a time of 17:16 in 89th place.
