September 1st 2005 Away Meet
On September 1st, we traveled to Lincoln Park in Aurora for a meet with Jewel (North Aurora), Jefferson (Aurora), Herget (Aurora), Grainger, and Washington (Aurora) Schools.

The meet started at 4:45pm under sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70's. Meet consisted of two races, a girls and a boys race, both approximately 1.7 miles long.

Our girls team ran their race first and set the tone for the meet by running a strong race for a third place finish. The team scores are Grainger 65, Jefferson 67, Batavia 78, Herget 82 and Jewel 87.

The girls were paced by Nichole Holzapfel who ran a fast second half of the race to capture 4th place in 12:20. Carly Schoettes also ran a solid last loop of the course placing 10th in 13:03. Elizabeth Kulisek, running her first cross country meet, went out early in the race with Nichole and hung on for gutsy 13:12 and 12th place. Jennifer Dailey ran a consistent race finishing in 22nd place in 14:56. Our fifth runner was Christina Scofield ran a solid 17:11 for 30th place. Melissa Dailey ran well covering the course in 17:44 and 32nd place.

The boys team ran an excellent team race placing five runners in the top twelve places, resulting in a first place finish. The team scores are Batavia 33, Grainger 45, Jefferson 67, Herget 93, Washington 112 and Jewel 153.

Tom and Dan Olache lead our boys team by going out with the front pack and finishing strong in 3rd and 4th place with 10:07 and 10:27 clockings. Mike Schmidt ran a tough race, out-leaning Washington's first man and capturing 6th place in 10:57. All of these time are faster than these runners' previous year's efforts on the same course. Our fourth runner, Tommy Gordon ran a fast race in 11:03, good for 8th place. Ethan DeJongh showed his endurance, running a strong second lap finishing in 11:20 and 12th place. Rich Parilla, running in his first cross country meet, ran an impressive 11:42 garnering 18th place. Luke Ganster ran an evenly paced race finishing in 12:14 and 23rd place. Spencer Kurth ran a tough 12:30 over the two lap course, capturing 26th place. Andrew Hutchinson, also running in his first cross country meet, ran a solid 13:14 good for 33rd place.
