Summer 2005 Meet Results

On June 21st, we traveled to Newton Park to compete in the Glen Ellyn Park District's Tuesday Evening Cross Country Races. These races have been a summer tradition since 1967. The races are run on a 3/4 mile gently hilly loop. Today the weather was sunny, 80 degrees with a slight northeast wind.

The first race was the grade school division (8th grade and under). All of these runners ran one loop, except for the 7th and 8th grade boys who ran two loops (1.5 miles). Our finishers in the boys 3rd grade and under group were Chase Peez in 5:18 (1st place), Nick Olache in 5:33 (3rd), Spencer Kurth in 5:48 (5th) and Peter Olache in 6:45. In the girls 4th to 6th grade group Nichole Holzapfel finished 2nd in 5:18 and Jennifer Dailey ran 6:35 for 8th place. In the 7th and 8th grade group Dan Olache finished 2nd in 9:56 and Tom Olache ran 10:01 for 3rd place.

The second race was the high school division. Stephan Jurgens won the frosh-soph boys group with a 14:31 time with Mike Baglieri garnering second with a 16:07 clocking. Their race was three loops - 2.25 miles.

The final race was the adult division. Coach Jurgens won the two loop men's master's group in 8:39.


On June 25th, some of our runners and moms ran the Geneva Flodloppet 5k. In the 0-14 age group Maddie Mueller ran 27:13 placing second and Jennifer Dailey finished in 33:54. Excellent races! We had three moms run the race, Jennifer Mott-Mueller clocked a 27:56, Susan Zak ran 32:54 and Renee Dailey crossed the finish line in 33:37.


On June 28th, we traveled to Newton Park to compete in the Glen Ellyn Park District's Tuesday Evening Cross Country Races. The races are run on a 3/4 mile gently hilly loop. Today the weather was partly cloudy, humid 91 degrees with a slight southeast wind.

On July 9th, Bruce Girard competed in the USATF Junior Olympics Region 7 Championships in Lisle, IL. Bruce ran an excellent race finishing 6th in the Youth Division 3000 meter run in 10:57.


On July 12th, we traveled to Newton Park to compete in the Glen Ellyn Park District's Tuesday Evening Cross Country Races. The races are run on a 3/4 mile gently hilly loop. Today the weather was sunny, 90 degrees with a slight southwest wind.

On July 26th, a few of our runners traveled to Newton Park to compete in the Glen Ellyn Park District's Tuesday Evening Cross Country Races. This was tha final set of races for the summer of 2005. The weather was rainy, 72 degrees with a north wind.

In the boy's third grade and under age category, Nicholas Olache placed first in 5:23, followed closely by Spencer Kurth in second in 5:33 and Peter Olache in fourth in 6:16. With their efforts, Nicholas became the 2005 summer champion for his age-gender group and Spencer was the first runner-up. Nichole Holzapfel place second (5:25) in the girl's fourth to sixth grade age-gender category, and also became the summer of 2005 first runner-up.


On Wednesday July 27th we ran in the Viking Sunset 5k. This is a great family event. A youth (age 12 and under) one mile run, a 400 meter junior jog (age 10 and under) and a 100 meter toddler trot (age 6 and under) are held after the 5k race. The weather was sunny and 78 degrees.

Here are the 5k race results. In the 12-13 age-female group Carly Schoettes and Dolores Weber placed 9th and 12th, respectively, with times of 27:26 and 33:04. In the 14-15 age-female group Murphy Kurth and Veronica Scofield placed 17th and 23th, respectively, with times of 25:19 and 32:08. In the 12-13 age-male group Bruce Girard and Daniel Olache placed 2nd and 4th, respectively, with times of 19:20 and 21:24. In the 14-15 age-male group Michael Baglieri placed 7th with a time of 20:08. We also had several moms run the race, Susan Zak finished 34th, Nancy Weber, 32nd, and Renee Dailey, 20th, in their age group with times of 27:29, 31:45 and 32:18.

Here are the youth mile race results. In the 9-10 age-female group Nichole Holzapfel, Jennifer Dailey and Patty Weber finished 3rd, 13th and 23rd with times of 6:45, 8:41 and 10:13. In the 11-12 age-female group Felicia Dattolo, Abby Zak and Christina Scofield finished 8th, 9th and 14th with times of 8:26, 8:27 and 9:47. In the 0-8 age-male group Spencer Kurth and Jason Zak placed 3rd (7:39) and 9th(8:35). In the 11-12 age-male group Tom Olache ran a 6:02 which placed him second.

Melissa Dailey and Joey Weber ran the 400m junior jog.

On Sunday August 21st some of our runners competed in the Mark McCormick Races in St. Charles IL.

In the 15k race, Tom Olache won his age group with a time of 1:17:16. In the 8k race Dan Olache won his age group in 38:29. An Accelerator dad, Tom Gordon, won his age group with a 30:09. We had four runners in the 2 mile race. Tommy Gordon won his age group and the race overall with a 13:56 clocking. Spencer Kurth placed third in his age group in 15:22. Nichole Holzapfel garnered a second place AG finish with a 14:43. Carly Schoettes placed second in her age group with a 17:32.
