Winter 2005 Track and Field Meets
On January 15th, at the Midwest II indoor track meet in Sterling Illinois, Paul Jurgens set a personal best of 8' 7" in the pole vault. Congratulations Paul!

We competed in the USATF North Youth Indoor Track Championships on Sunday March 13th in Sterling, Illinois. In the 1600m girls race Nichole Holzapfel (Bantam) placed 3rd overall with a time of 6:51 and Monica Taylor (Intermediate) garnered 4th in 7:27. In the 1600m boys race Stephan Jurgens (Intermediate) captured 1st with a strong 5:20. Mike Baglieri (Intermediate) 3rd in 6:05 out-sprinted Dan Olache (Youth) 4th in 6:08. Peter DeJongh (Youth) finished 5th in 6:15 with Mike Schmidt (Youth) grabbing 6th place in 6:23, followed closely by Tom Olache (Midget) in 7th at 6:26. Shaun Berendt (Youth) garnered 8th in 6:34 and Spencer Kurth (Pee Wee)10th in 7:22.

In the 55m hurdles Murphy Kurth was 4th overall in 12.33. In the 55m dash Jorden Berendt placed 4th in 9.09. In the 400m run Jorden Berendt placed 5th in the bantam boys division with 1:21.5, Murphy Kurth 3rd in the youth girls division in 1:18.8, and Dan Bach 3rd in the intermediate boys category in 1:09.9. The 800m run saw Nick Olache place 1st in the pee wee boys age group in 3:28 and Peter Olache 3rd, 4:03, also in the pee wee boys division. The 4x400m relay, consisting of Mike Schmidt, Dan Olache, Shaun Berendt and Mitchell (a last minute injury sub from the South Madison Panthers) ran a 5:00.3.
