TRD Team Etiquette

Etiquette is having common courteously for the people around you.  Its having compassion for a fellow dancer and representing yourself in the best possible way.

Be early on time is dressed and ready five minutes before practice begins

Apologize to team if you are tardy

Smile and greet everyone

Be a risk taker I know you are working when you fall down; I know you are working when you have a dance bruise.

Be supportive when you witness a risk taker - it takes a lot of courage to try a 'C' jump full out.

Jump in  when a dancer is missing to fill their spot

Don't talk  talking disrupts rehearsal

Don't interrupt or yell  both are bad manners

Use good body language folding arms, chewing fingernails means: "I don't want to be here."

Ask appropriate questions

Thank someone demonstrating a step for you

Clap at the end of practice

Be a role model show those around you the TRD way

Be gracious Thank your coach and leadership team

Be a motivator and share your excitement.  Don't complain about the routine or how sore you are - this could bring the team down.

Be a Team Member It is never appropriate to say something bad about a member of your team even if you don't like them.  I do not expect you to hang out with each other but you must respect the "Team Spirit".

Be Responsible We do not have very many team meetings and we do not spend practice time reviewing what is typed on Friday News.  If you miss a practice it is up to you to get information you missed, we will not take time to catch you up.

Communicate with me  Do not ask a teammate to tell me you won't be at practice.  You may tell one of your captains if this absence is last minute but I expect a call or e-mail of explanation.  Parents are always welcome to call but I feel you all old enough to excuse yourself.  Dishonesty has never been an issue... do not abuse my trust.

E-mail is only acceptable if you give time for reply  For example: you can not e-mail to tell me that you are not going to attend a practice and then expect the practice excused.  I may tell you this is a performance practice and if you don't come to practice you will not dance.
