Jack's Shop

December 16, 2009: Jack's Shop Beyond the Front Porch is a book that I highly recommend for readers who are looking to revisit the past to a once simpler time when the joys of life were abundant and the worries only momentary. The author has a writig style that draws you back to your glory days and gives you the desire to want to reminisce about those days as you identify with his real life experiences. The stories made me laugh and cry, but mostly laugh. Perhaps because I spent my teen years growing up in neighboring Culpeper and could identify with the author's silly antics, love for family, and simple lifestyle, to name a few. I savored every chapter of this book and am delighted that the author is writing a sequel. In a time of recession, buying this book was money well spent.

A wonderful, whimsical glimpse at the childhood of a "wanna-be woodsman-farm boy". The imagery makes you feel like you are there. You can almost hear the rivers running and see the cherries dropping from the tree. I recommend it to any and all.
