COMPETITION ARENA SYNOPSES

ARENA 1: THE SHOWTIME CHALLENGE

I Wanna Be in Pictures

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit that portrays the search for the right actor in a movie role.

You must include:

• A highly nervous director on a deadline
• At least one really bad audition
• An "extreme" character's audition
• A famous star look-a-like
• Much humor

ARENA 2: THE ENGINEERING FEATS CHALLENGE

Reel to Reel

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit that incorporates an actual team movie about fishing.

You must include:

• An exaggerated "fish" story either told or depicted
• Team movie footage incorporated in a live skit
• Include the "one that got away" that must- " appear periodically " be powered by a simple or motorized machine

ARENA 3: THE FINE TUNING CHALLENGE

Break a Leg

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit based on a song and dance movie.

Your presentation must include:

• A scene from a famous song and dance movie musical
• A humorous fall
• An artistic depiction of a famous song and/or dance star
• Shoes with "a mind of their own"

ARENA 4: THE PERSPECTIVE CHALLENGE

The Sounds of Silence

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit that is in the style of the early silent movies.

The skit must:

• Be seen from the perspective of a "talking" movie camera
• Include an actor with a real need to speak and no opportunity
• Include over dramatization or melodrama in at least one character
• Contain signs with words explaining the scene or action
• Have sound effects &/or background music
• Show wacky humor
