COMPETITION ARENA SYNOPSES

ARENA 1: THE SHOWTIME CHALLENGE

Happily Ever Laughter!

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit that is comprised of several known tales mixed together. You must include:

Ø At least three well-known tale characters in the wrong tales

Ø A magical helper

Ø A quest to perform an “impossible” task or tasks

Ø A surprising reward at the end

Ø Much humor

ARENA 2: THE ENGINEERING FEATS CHALLENGE

Huffin’ and Puffin’

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit that is centered on a solidly built home. You must include:

Ø A “home” that will hold at least one team member

Ø At least one well-known character from a tale

Ø Sounds of a forest

ARENA 3: THE FINE TUNING CHALLENGE

Tricky Business

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit based on a humorous trickster hero who leads others into or out of mischief. Your presentation must include:

Ø A musical performance by at least one of the tricked characters

Ø An original piece of art created and presented by one of the tricked characters

Ø A bully

Ø Present a moral that relates to human behavior

ARENA 4: THE PERSPECTIVE CHALLENGE

Tellin’ Tales

Your team's challenge prior to the competition is to create a four to five minute skit that is based on a “little known tale” about a well-known tall tale character. The skit must include:

Ø The perspective of an inanimate object acting as the narrator

Ø A well-known tall tale character or characters

Ø A natural disaster

Ø Impossible feats of strength

Ø Wacky humor
