Obediah Satterwhite [Parents] was born on 2 Feb 1790. He died on 27 Feb 1857 in Penton, Chambers, Al. He was buried in Mount Hickory Cemtery. He married Mary Polly Green about 1812 in , Ga.

Obediah participated in the 1821 Georgia Land Lottery. He
drew land in Monroe Co. On 11-13-1827 he purchased land from a certain
Wiley Starling in Troup Co., GA. Obediah and family were members of
the Flat Shoals Primitive Baptist Church . He became a member on
2-19-1832. The church was organized 2-11-1829. Church records also
indicate that he was a charter member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church
in Troup Co., GA. He appears in the 1830 census of Troup Co., GA. He
also appears in the 1840 census of Chambers Co., AL. Obediah and family
are living in Chambers Co., in HH 91. Obediah is farming and owns real
estate valued at $2000. Mary, as a widow, appears in the 1860 census of
Chambers Co. She is living in HH 670, next door to her daughter "Nancy"
and her son-in-law, John Daniel. Living with her is her grandson, James
Daniel. She is recorded as owning real estate valued at $1200 and
personal property valued at $500. The following is Obediah's LWT,
recorded in Chambers Co., AL, 5-17-1853:
In the name of God Amen: I Obe Satterwhite of the County of
Chambers, state of Alabama, of sound disposing mind and memory and
knowing and believing that it is appointed for man to die, do dispose of
my worldly effects and estate as following. First of all, I commend my
soul to God who gave it and my body to the buried in a Christian like
manner. Item-I give to my beloved wife Polly Satterwhite the use and
control of all my estate (after my just debts are paid) both real and
personal, consisting of my land and plantation where we now live
____four_____and sixty ___, and seven slaves, to wit, Hole a woman, Joe a
yellow man, and Joe a black boy, Simon a boy, Harriet a girl, Henry a
boy, and Moses a boy and _________together will all my household and
kitchen furniture, stock of every description_________with residue of my
estate and effects whatever to my said wife Polly Satterwhite for and
during her natural lifetime, and at her death it is my will and I do give
and direct that the whole of the aforesaid estate both real and personal
be equally divided between my four children hereafter named share and
share alike in the following manner. One fourth to Nancy Daniel wife of
John Daniel and her children forever-one fourth to Martha Echols, wife of
Samuel Echols and her children for ever-one fourth to Lucy Echols, wife
of John Echols and her children forever. And the remaining fourth to my
son John Satterwhite and his children forever. Item-Lastly I do
nominate, constitute, and appoint my wife Polly Satterwhite, executrix,
and my son John Satterwhite executor of this my last will and testament,
revoking all former wills by me made ratifying and declaring this to be
my last. In testimony therefore I Obe Satterwhite do hereunto set my
hand and seal this 17th May A.D. 1853. Signed, sealed, and declared by
Obe Satterwhite to be his last will and testament in our presence who in
his presence and at his request have subscribed our names as witnesses
