Software Description
Five computer programs are available - two of them are shareware.

1.  Two Windows-based programs are offered for sale.  Both are related to inverse problems in heat conduction. The first is IHCP1D.  It is for determining time-variable heat flux or heat transfer coefficients on the surface of a one-dimensional heat conducting body utilizing measured transient interior (or surface) temperatures histories.  The thermal properties of the body must be known.  For additional information on IHCP1D, press here.

2.  A two dimensional version of IHCP1D, called IHCP2D, is available.  This program provides estimates of the surface heat flux distribution and/or surface heat transfer coefficient, as a function of space and time by utilizing transient temperature measurements at points interior to the body.  Temperature-dependent thermal properties can be accommodated by the program.  The body geometry can be of two-dimensional planar or cylindrical axisymmetric configuration.  For more information on this two-dimensional software, press here.

3.  The second Windows-based program offered is PROP1D. It is a program for the estimation of thermal conductivity, volumetric heat capacity, thermal diffusivity and thermal contact conductance, given appropriate transient temperature and heat flux measurements. Temperature-variable properties can be estimated and the bodies can be one-dimensional layered plates, cylinders and spheres.   For additional information on PROP1D, press here.

4.  The first shareware program, CONDS, is a one-dimensional transient heat conduction program written by Prof. Haji-Sheikh.  It can treat plates, cylinders and spheres, with one or two layers.  It can be directly downloaded, together with a necessary supporting file.  For additional information on CONDS, press here.

5.   The second shareware program, COND3D, is a three-dimensional transient program for the temperatures and heat fluxes in a homogeneous parallelepiped.  It allows constant temperature, heat flux or convection conditions on each of the 6 faces.  The program can also be used for one and two dimensional problems. It provides extreme accurate answers, generally up to 9 significant figures. The program can be used to verify solutions given by approximate techniques and to aid in teaching advanced conduction classes.
