Required materials:
- Practice pad and sticks for ALL battery sections
- Notebook and pencil
- Your own personal drum key or ratchet is highly recommended for the battery    
- Text Books - Pit will need Up Front – Battery no text is required

Goals:
- Further define and master the technical style
- Application of technique to musical settings
- Advancing arranging skills
- Continue to refine rehearsal technique
- For music education majors - Develop a better understanding and confidence in     starting, teaching, and arranging for a marching percussion ensemble
- Saturday APRIL, 12th – PARADE IN NEWARK
   
Grading:
60%    - Preparation (assessed on a class to class basis - this includes preparation of music, having your instrument tuned, promptness, etc)
20%    - Stroke and grip guidelines written test – Tuesday, February 26th
20%    - Preparation during Group or Private Lesson  (during class)

Attendance - one unexcused absence will be allowed - each subsequent absence will result in lowering the final grade by one half of a letter (A equals A-) - excused absences will be handled on an individual basis

Excused absences include documented illness, family emergencies and class/exam conflicts

An unexcused absence from inventory and maintenance day will automatically lower the student’s grade by a full letter

Music Arranging:
- This is optional for all students in the class
- All arrangers must notify me by April, 1st
- All student arrangements will be performed during the last weeks of the class -     the arrangers will teach their own scores
