Pep Band
General Course Information
1. All students MUST audition
to be a member of the Pep Band.
2. All students must attend 4 of 5 rehearsals
to receive a pep
band
uniform and to be allowed to participate.
3. If any scholarship
student misses more than 6 events
(scheduled
rehearsals and performances) you may have your
scholarship
removed.
This INCLUDES class conflicts, exams, excused
absences, etc.
4. Non-scholarship students, who ARE NOT taking the course for credit
cannot miss more than 10 events. Non-scholarship
students who are
taking the course for credit, please see the grading
guidelines below.
5. Study Abroad students are still eligible for scholarships, HOWEVER,
you are only allowed 4 absences and cannot take the
course for credit.
You are allowed 6 absences if you are
non-scholarship, Study Abroad.
6. All students must sign in before an event to receive credit.
7. All students must provide their own transportation to the
Bob Carpenter
Center. Parking will be provided for free in the
back lot. Please enter
in the Route 4 entrance.
8. No use of drugs, alcohol, profanity, or displays of
inappropriate behavior
in uniform (uniform is pep band jacket, this
includes carrying instrument
into the arena, bus, or
rehearsal room).
This may also lead to dismissal from
the pep band and removal of
scholarship.
9. Anyone who has auditioned and abided by the guidelines may
take pep
band for credit (one credit during the spring
semester). The course number
is MUSC 120, sec 10.
10. Anyone who wishes to arrange a piece of music for the band should:
a. Submit the score for
approval to Jim Ancona via email (Sibelius software only)
b. Length should be 1.5 to
2 minutes or a 30 second time out
c. Upon approval, the
project must be completed by the second rehearsal, this
includes
making copies (5x7 reductions) for the band
d. There are no guarantees
that we will play your chart in performance
e. The pep band must be
supplied with an original score and parts
f. The pep band retains
the rights to perform your arrangement for the next 10 years
11. All scholarship students must be full time students in the spring
Grading:
A 6 or less absences
A- 7 absences
B 8 absences
C 9 absences
D 10 absences
F 11 or more absences
