RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

“WELL DISCIPLINED TEAM”

  1. It is extremely important to be RESPECTFUL to everyone you come into contact with.  This includes players, coaches, refs, fans, parents, and all school personnel.
  2. As student athletes, we must help each other on the floor and be very close off the floor.  The team must care for each other and consistently work on “TEAM WORK”.
  3. Inappropriate language will not be tolerated on/off the basketball court.  Remember, you play the way you practice.
  4. Maintain self-control at all times.
  5. Players will be on a jog from drill to drill at all times when on the basketball court.  Walking on the court, sitting during practices, or leaning on the wall will not be tolerated during practice times.
  6. When the whistle blows, players will immediately stop dribbling-stop talking-and focus on the instructions from the coaching staff.
  7. Players are expected to arrive to practice/games 15 minutes before the scheduled time.  When practice is scheduled for 3:00, players are expected to be dressed and on the court at 3:00.
  8. Don’t cheat yourself, because you will be cheating the team.  It’s the little things that make big results.
  9. 100% effort 100% of the time.  Basketball practices are limited to roughly 2 hours per day.  The coaching staff, as well as the players, are expected to give 100% effort from the time they step on the court until the time we step off.  As we tell our student athletes, we want to practice hard on the basketball court, but even harder in the classrooms.   *  Academics first, then basketball.
  10.   Players are expected to report all injuries to the coaching staff immediately.

  1. Players are recommended to try to work out any problems with the coach in a one-on-one setting.  At times, coaches are unaware of feelings or concerns players have.  Do not hesitate to discuss any questions or concerns with the coaching staff.
  2.   An athlete who is suspended from school (ISS or OSS) will not play in the next competition.  An athlete suspended for a second time during their sports season will be removed from the team.
  3.   Practices will be closed to the public
  4.   Parents are asked not to approach coaches during or after any practice or team competition.  To meet with a coach, please schedule an appointment first by contacting the coach;  if unsuccessful, contact the athletic director.
  5.   Bus Rides are quiet on the way to the game.  The players are expected to be focused on the game and to visualize certain scenerios
