- As the head coach, I feel that it is extremely important for the younger athletes to follow the same rules and expectations that the varsity players follow. This allows for a smooth transition from middle school to 9th grade and then to the varsity level. Please pass out the rules and expectations to each and every student athlete and have the player and their parents sign off. NO EXCEPTIONS
- Within our rules and expectations, we tell our players not to use inappropriate language. As coaches, we lead by example and do not use any type of inappropriate language in front of the players.
- Practice should be two hours a day. Remember, if you tell the kids that practice will be over at 5:00, practice will be over at 5:00. Not before the scheduled ending time or after the scheduled ending time. We do not want to have parents waiting around for practice to end.
- Someone from the varsity coaching staff will visit your practice on a minimum of once per week. This will be a good time for the varsity coach to incorporate certain plays or drills we want you to teach them. We will also meet with you to discuss expectations, drills, plays, etc. Please make sure the varsity head coach receives a schedule for your practices.
- 9th grade basketball players will be given the option to attend varsity weekend practices. Most weekend practices will be held on Saturdays.
- As a coach, be at the gym 15 minutes before your scheduled practices. If for some reason you cannot attend a practice/game, immediately call the school to contact Coach Ruzich or Mr. Roche.
- Each coach will be expected to scout/video tape two games per season. The coach will ask you one week in advance to scout a certain team. The camcorder and tape will be supplied by the varsity coaching staff.
