We tried every other action
Such as paying you a fraction
Of the salary you earned when you were hired.
We restructured, we reacted,
We made statements we retracted.
Dear employee, in other words, you're fired.
Of
course it isn't personal
So wipe away those tears.
You did a super job for us
Each day for twenty years.
Because the times are
trying
Our incessant justifying
Is our lame attempt to lessen your shock.
We'll show the proper reverence
And pay you two weeks severence.
We hope your savings plan wasn't only in our stock.
