Fort Warren
New England's Most Historic Civil War Site
by Jay Schmidt

cover

Cover design by Renee Sartell

If you enjoyed learning about Boston's historic Fort Warren from this site, you may be interested in this book. This soft cover book contains many stories and pictures about the events which happened at the fort—such as the executions, escapes and the Trent Affair. The book has strong local interest since Fort Warren is one of the few remaining Civil War sites in the northeast.

It has 160 pages and more than 85 photos and illustrations—many of which had never been published before. The book has 14 chapters including an appendix with detailed information and photos about the gun batteries and the murals in the John Brown chapel.

If you plan to visit the fort, this book will serve as your guide. It includes a special chapter written for visitors with a map showing you the locations of all of the fort's key points of interest.

"Schmidt is a history buff who writes a colorful and informative brief history which can also be used as an introduction and guide for visitors to this National Historic Landmark."
