| In his spare time he made
some wonderful, handmade, hand cut greeting cards using the silver from
candy wrappers and colored inks to send back home. He drew on every letter
he sent back: cartoons and sayings and scenes. These letters were sent to
Mom and to his family to show his love for them and to explain to them what
he was doing and where he was. He even tried writing music, love songs, but
he didn’t have knowledge of note writing. He spent a lot of time thinking
about Mom.
