These cards and envelopes were noticed in the Post Office and he was
asked by the Postal Officer if he wanted to come design cards, signs and
V-mail for the guys to mimeograph to be sent home. These handmade,
mimeographed cards were what the other soldiers used to send greeting cards
to mail back home. He turned him down. He didn’t think he was good enough.
But I think he liked being with his buddies too much. Jim Mauel, Burt King,
Veikko Keranen, Ray Argast, Louis "Red" Carbone, Louis Boucher, Wilfred
Berry (the only one who died while overseas), and he, Walter Wipperfurth,
was the eighth. Two others, Bloom and Angello, were running the Dispensary
when the 11th Bomb members arrived.
