The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard was the first Naval Shipyard in the Nation. It opened in 1801 when naval vessels were of wood construction. The Yard ceased its mission on September 27, 1996 after proudly serving the Fleet for 195 years.
This Homepage is dedicated to keeping the memory of the Yard alive and to serve as a brow for ex-YardBirds to walk the deck plate again and keep in touch with each other.
There is not very much out on the Net about the Yard, so if anyone out there has a web page, e-mail address, or anything you would like to share about your experiences at the Yard, please e-mail me or fill in the form below. I need your help to produce a nice tribute to the Yard and YardBirds who dedicated their lives to making the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard the Mainstay of the Fleet.
